I want to, but worry about looking old!

I don't have to. It's my natural colour (just not length, still growing grrr).

Are you thinking of doing it coco?

I am old Grin. I had let my dye grow out to go grey but it went from white to grey to dark starting from the front. I thought this could blend it in, though Im blonde atm .

Pixie, bleach blonde, with no grey (lucky me), 39, have tried pink and lilac.

I once tried to dye my hair like that from brown when I was younger, it went light yellow and frizzed beyond recognition. Blush

Bleach it then put a toner/directions silver over it.

Beware your hair will be dry and porous and knackered in all likelihood (been there, chopped it off and grown it out again Blush)

I liked the silver and lilac. Pastel pink was a bit rubbish (candy floss)

I've got natural pale ash blonde (white) hair and I'm considering doing underneath with grey directions, but scared of looking even older. (But guess if I don't bleach it it won't be totally knacked)

Hmmm I always cut my hair to keep it healthy, I dye it a lot maybe not a good idea if Im trying to grow it a bit.
I have my brothers wedding to go to in October, I dont want to look like the grooms mum!

Yes!! I got it done at hairdressers. Bleached then silver colour over it.I like it but feel I need to always have make up on. I kept over spraying my hair with dry shampoo to get an idea of how I would look. I hid in loo while doing this. Boyfriend likes it but says I look like I should be in an early 80s electronic band.

I'm dying mine grey next weekend. I have short hair and it's just starting to go grey on the sides. I'm 41 and quite looking forward to it. Possibly something like this:

Marking place as I am thinking of doing the same thing, fed up of four weekly highlights to disguise my grey.
My hair is about the same length as Pinks too, just had it all cut off.
I'm have pink toned skin though, most of the pics I've seen the models are olive skinned so not sure what to ask for.

I would want to do it myself, I haven't been near a hairdresser for 13 years, but dont know what would be the best dye.

Cocolepew there are loads of tutorials on how to do it on YouTube and photos on Instagram. They seem to be mostly American but surely there will be products available here too?
I use Bleach London silver shampoo now that I have grey hair!

I have! I bleached it myself the first time but I have a lot of hair and it's long so I didn't get the most even result. After that I stuck with hairdressers! Bleach London is a good range for at home kits - it's in Boots. They specialise in grungy cool hair rather than commercial 'covering greys' box dyes. I'm pretty sure they do a bleaching kit, as well as a white toner, which is what you'll really need to get the silvery look.

If you are after a pearly silvery white I recommend using the Lee Stafford Bleached Blonde purple shampoo once you've got the toning right and you're happy with it. It's the best purple shampoo I've used for keeping the colour really white/lilac rather than toning it purple/blue of left on too long. That said the L'Oreal professional silver shampoo is also excellent.

I should add I went from medium dark brown to white, but that process required bleaching it 3 times in total and to protect my hair I left about a week in between each bleach. So do be prepared to go around with bright yellow hair for a bit Grin
