Clarks Orla Kiely shoes- keep or return?

I was feeding my 20 week old in the middle of the night and was browsing the internet, I saw the Beatrice and Betty shoes and ordered them. They have just arrived. Although they look a little strange on the website they are beautiful and will look great with jeans, linen trousers etc. , I think! they are a little high but feel amazing on.
My dilemma:
I'm very large after having baby so shoes are the only thing that I feel great in until I lose a huge amount of weight (currently 17 + stone ??) but they aren't cheap. I can just about afford and have not bought new shoes or any clothes in fact, since Christmas 2013 as I was waiting to see if pregnancy increased my foot size and it hasn't this time, but rest of me has increased in size.
Would you keep both, one pair or return? Will do what mumsnet jury decides.
Finally, are they lovely or awful? Have no fashion sense at all at the moment and just need advice. Including clothes and weight loss. (Lost cause I feel).
Thank you x

I haven't seen the ones you mention but my nearly 6 foot statuesque friend looked awesome in hers last summer!

If you love them, can afford them, and feel good in them now, keep them! I have learned over the years not to buy things I think I will feel or look good in when x y z happens - usually weight loss. When I'm at my biggest I tend to do more of that kind of shopping and it's daft, because what I really need is something that will make me feel good now.

Anyway that was a load of waffle but hope you understand Blush

Congrats on your baby!

Keep one pair.

Keep them, everyone should treat themselves. I know its hard not to feel guilty but you deserve them Smile. I will be honest and say they are not my cup of tea, but we can't all be the same I couldn't afford them even if I liked them

Thank you all, lovely replies. Will decide which pair to keep tonight as they do feel lovely on when everything else had fallen apart x

Keep both pairs.

Keep both. I'm a big fan of Orla Kiely shoes, you're not likely to find anything else like them for that price. I've just bought the Beryl for my wedding.

Plus, you've just had a baby. That justifies EVERYTHING Grin

I like the Beatrice but not the Betty so much (but too novelty).

Keep them, they will still fit when you do lose weight. Make sure you wear them now, though!

Orla shoes.

Flares.

Tan boho bag.

My seventies inspired summer wish list is growing!

Back to the thread, I definitely think you should keep both pairs! If you can afford it, I think it's important to treat yourself.

Thank you you're all so kind. I hope I've not come across as spoiled! I really have spent nothing on myself in year and a quarter as always feel that tgings will wait till I've lost weight- a stupid cycle of thinking I know. I will live for now and keep both and bloody well wear both esp one pair to my daughter's christening this summer. Love the boho idea too as flowing material and fabric will help cover up the flabby bits which are all of me at the mo. Thing is, I know I won't buy any clothes until I have lost some so maybe these lovelies will keep me going xxx

I think you should keep them- I love the orla collection. I know exactly how you feel re shoes- I also find buying clothes hard at the moment due to weight. I do find that gorgeous shoes, a nice bag, a blow dry and some posh makeup make me feel a bit better. Enjoy them! And you've just had a baby- the best accessory! I'm a big fan of heels, I (naively) feel I look slimmer when I wear them. I think I walk differently and carry myself better than when I wray flats.

Yes yes in heels I feel very slim. Although I'm v overweight I am quite confident and come across as such. In my head I'm slim and only when looking in a mirror or seeing a photo do I think omg, what's happened. Looking forward to baby sleeping through and summer days to exercise all this fat away that's piled on since first child in 2010! X

I've just found this thread and am also debating whether to buy the Betty shoes! I'm due to have a baby in three weeks .. I have some money that was given to me as a gift but still trying to work out whether I should be spending £120 on a pair of shoes! Imagining them with flares and denim skirts in the summer.

I think you should buy yourself some clothes as well. You are the size you are. At least if you have clothes that fit and you like you'll feel much better about yourself. So I'd be tempted to keep just one pair and spend the other money on an outfit. And a new lipstick :-)

I bought the Betty in the blue and I love them. Not so keen on the Beatrice as they're not really my style. I sold stuff on ebay to cover the cost as this has been an expensive month what with one thing and another and this has helped with feelings of guilt! I never wear heels usually, (being 5'9 already and unable to walk in them) but these are super comfortable and so cute I am going to keep them. Did you get the tan or the blue version? (the blue are practically sold out now on the Clarks site at least so that might factor into your decision if you decide to send them back then change your mind!)

I agree with everyone here that you should keep both if they make you happy. You deserve a treat OP and they sound as though they make you feel a million dollars. I don't think you can put a price on that.

Congrats on your baby, too x

Keep them but promise me you'll actually wear them! Life is too short to put off loving yourself to another day. Sometimes another day just doesn't come. Wear them, love them Grin

Just had a look . Yes to both. I bet your ankles look fabulous in them. And your knees and calves.
The ultimate test for me is whether they look good when I'm lying down and looking at them whilst I wave my feet about. It's not a kink thing or anything. It's sometimes easier to see them that way than looking down on the IYSWIM?
And thank you because I've just bought my Summer flats whilst I browsed Clarks.

I love the betty in navy. Not so keen in the tan. Flower reminds me of a fried egg. Still would buy if i could afford them. Now, what can i sell??? Think that might be my action plan!

PMSL GreenGardenPixie! I was debating with a friend over the two colours and she made exactly the same comment re: looking like a fried egg on the tan colour. I was kind of already sold on the blue ones, but if ever I needed persuading....Grin

Oh I really like the fried egg ones but there is no doubt that's what they look like!
