good products to hide dark circles under my eyes?

Hi,

I was just wondering whether anyone had any tips on products for hiding dark circles under the eye?

I haven't yet found a great concealer to cover them and the ones i have tried , I still seem to look sleeeepy on photos! (I do actually get enough sleep, not sure why i have them!)

I do like the 'flawless' look so i don't know whether i am just expecting too much!

People rave about Seventeen Phwoar Paint. I just bought a pot today but haven't tried it, yet. I think Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat is good but it's not really heavy coverage. It just lights up the area.

Have you tried Benefit Boi-ing?

I bought phwoar paint yesterday.
It's ok. Nothing to write home about.
I've also tried the collection concealer that's gets raved about on here.
Again. It's ok.
I don't think there is a product that really works.

I really rate Touche Veloutee by Terry. It seems pricey but lasts for ages!

I use the phwoar paint, I put it on with a sponge.

I use a corrector from bobbi brown and then use foundation/concealer on top. The corrector is the Only thing that's worked for me. Concealer on its own just gives me an ashy look. The corrector neutralises the colour and the result is a brighter looking eye area.

The Collection Lasting Performance one is brilliant.

Also great if you're happy to spend more is the Nars Creamy Concealer.

Of course if your bags are really horrendous then nothing is going to hide them completely but the Collection one completely covers mine and brighten the under eye area. Use a sponge rather than fingers and you can get a really well blended airbrushed type effect.

Oh Max Factor do a yellow coloured corrective pencil for dark circles. I haven't found it yet though.

I just bought a cream concealer from catrice. So cheap and it works brilliantly! Lots of coverage but a really nice consistency. For a night out id possibly highlight the area a tiny bit too with touche eclat. My dark circles are very bad.

I use Clinique Concealer (brush thingy) and think it's quite good. Pricy but lasts a while.

Just checked the pot - its called 'camouflage cream'. Not sure if catrice is available in the uk (I'm in Ireland) but it possibly is. If not, it is available on eBay.

I have terrible dark circles under my eyes and have tried most things over the years.

I actually do rate the collection 2000 one especially for the price.

It is so hard to get coverage without getting cakes. I didn't like boi-ing. Erase Paste, also by benefit, is quite good but it is thick and so can look heavy. I do quite like the Estée Lauder double wear one, it is a creamy one with a wand. I tend to prefer wand ones as I find the pot ones quite heavy and cakey to apply.

I did buy the phwoar stuff after seeing it on here. It's ok, pretty similar to boi-ing but I do tend to go for the collection one over it. In fact I have most of the above at the mo and always reach for the collection one, probably because it is the best match for my skin colour.

I do think application is key. I tend to rush it on with my finger (one year old and three year generally hanging off me or 'helping' me apply my makeup!) but when I occasionally use a brush it is better.

There is a you tube video showing how to apply it in a triangle shape under your eye, ie don't just cover the dark bit but a large area underneath and blend it all in. But helpfully I have no idea who the make up artist was, sorry!

I don't rate any of the touché eclat things, have tried that, the By Terry one, cheap ones and none of them work if you have seriously bruised looking rings. I think they just highlight the problem. Possibly ok on top of the concealer.

Virtually nothing shifts my circles apart from a suntan! They say water and sleep but I don't think it makes any difference.

Benefit Lemon Aid is the best I've found, I brush it into the tear troughs and under my lower lashes and it brightens the whole eye area.

Have you tried a corrector first to knock out/cancel some of the darkness? In my experience, trying to cover the shadows with concealer invariably results in a cakey finish as you try and cover everything. A salmon/peach tone underneath really works wonders, then you can go in with a traditional highlighting concealer. Clinique's is okay; I like the By Terry one very much, and also the Charlotte Tilbury retoucher, but the latter two are expensive and you might want to pop into Space NK for a test of the By Terry first (don't buy blind, as the shades are not intuitive by number - they go by undertone). A really great corrector is the Jane Iredale Enlighten one, which also works for melasma and bruising. It really helped me through a bad spell when I got sunburned and had post inflammatory hyperpigmentation on my nose. It has a slightly tacky cream formula which means that it adheres to the skin better than a liquid corrector. Alternatively, one of the Bobbi Brown correctors are pretty decent.

I think it's the application more than the product that is the key. I had my make-up done once at the hairdressers and the girl used a tiny brush and the difference was amazing! I have never been able to reproduce the effect myself and have used products from rimmel hide the blemish to touche éclat to the bobbi brown one.

Bare Minerals 'Well Rested' works every time for me. I use it over concealer (no concealer ever fully covers my purple under eye colouring) It really helps brighten it all up

Not sure how much you want to spend but I have recently discovered premier cru eye cream by Caudlie (sp). It is £ but it is fantastic and almost acts as a concealer before the concealer due to its colour. It has made a real diff to me!
