What are the rules for wearing skinny jeans with ankle boots?

Just that really. I have both boots and skinny jeans but I can't work out how best to style them together. It probably doesn't help that I have short legs (29inch) in proportion to my height (5 foot 5) but I really want to make it work! Is there a knack to this art?

I was wondering the same Varsity - I have M&S jeggings (the pull on and the jeans style) that I only wear with long boots.
Those pictures of the skinnies with the chunky heel - all look wrong IMO and the cuffed one looks really awkward.

Skinnies with Converse
Skinnies with long boots
Skinnies with ballet flats

I'd wear skinnies with a heeled boot if it was a stilletto or kitten heel - but I wouldn't be able to actually WALK Blush

I have some like these which are shaped at the top and just wear skinnies normally, not cuffed or rolled up or god forbid on the outside of the boot Hmm

My jeans go over my boots. Tough if it isn't fashionable, I hate flappy boots they are cold.

Also I'm likely to look like a gnome gnome in his short wellies

I think to wear jeans with ankle boots, the boots have to be not too high up the ankle and the jeans not too long. I wear low heeled chelsea boots with ankle length jeans (I have a 30 inch leg so I'm not tall). The jeans just sort of scrunch at the top of the boot. Def not tucked in or rolled up.

What nut said. If your jeans have to be folded in (?? then they are too flappy

I cuff mine usually. But my 'boots' are more 'shoots'.

I put my jeans on then pull on my boots and go! Give them no thought at all. With knee boots make sure jeans are tight enough

Are there rules? Sometimes I tuck the jeans into scrunched down socks that scrunch at the top of the boots. Sometimes I wear them with scrunched down legwarmers. Sometimes I turn the cuffs of the jeans up to sit just at the top of the boots. Sometimes I let the jeans just scrunch around at the top of the boots, as if I am a pirate.

Grin Remus I always just do the jeans scrunched at the top of the boots thing. I shall think of it as the pirate method now, instead of just my being lazy.

Jeans on legs. Making sure zip is done up. Boots on feet. Making sure they are on the right ones.

Sorted.

i sometimes wear my knee boots over and sometimes under my jeans...mostly quite skinny types

ankle boots...i mostly have clumpy sorts so jeans sort of inside the boots, but not tucked or folded.

also have some calf length suedey efforts and I tend to fold my jeans up to sit just over the top of those, i do similar with the long boots sometimes.

So it's people wanting to put their jeans in/on top of their boots who explain why it's impossible to buy ankle boots that are tight at the top.

I HATE flappy ankle boots, I'm too short already, they make me look shorter.

(They are also cold and uncomfortable).

Yes I know she's a model with skinny ankles, but mine aren't so much bigger (even if my legs certainly are). Why are the boots two inches, at least too wide.

beautydiva I saw rocket dogs in that style (might have been a different colour) on sale at schuh or sole traders a few weeks ago. £26 if I remember correctly. Worth a look online.

Yes, jeans sort of inside or pushed up a bit but not over jeans.

Boden have a load of petite ankle length skinny jeans in the clearance sale, worth a look if you want to minimise the material around your ankle.

I think it's probably because it would be too uncomfortable otherwise - the walking movement would cause blistering on the ankle if it sat too close.

(Or irritation anyway, if not actual blisters)

No, you wear socks or tights with boots, the zips in floppy ones are way way more annoying.

Hmmm true I suppose.

Never gave it that much thought, tbh. But now I will be looking at everyone's boots and wondering if there's an actual reason. Otherwise surely someone would make some that would be right for the slim of ankle..
