I've just dyed a pink dress blue but it's left bloody pink stitching!

Decided I didn't like the bright pink linen dress I bought myself so dyed it navy blue. Followed all the instructions, have dyed loads of stuff before. The dress label said 100% linen so I thought it'd be ok. But obviously the bloody stitching wasn't. It must have been polyester or something.

Have I ruined the dress? It's not that noticeable.

Is it going to look ridiculous?

Common dying problem

Thread is usually polyester , as you've found out the hard way

I could put some material behind the embroidery, that's the most obvious bit.

The polyester dyes involve boiling the garment in a saucepan on the stove . After that , the cotton dress will fit a small child

I've used idye poly in the washing machine on a hot wash. It worked but it stinks! I mean smells like vile chemicals.

If you use a pan you can no long use it for cooking. You can try the machine i got mine dye from amazon and it was maybe £3 but if it was me I'd right it off and put it down to experience.

Well I would try a sharpie before chucking it. It can't hurt and it might work.
Or possibly put some material behind the lacy part and ignore the rest of the thread lines. As you say its barely noticeable .

I suffered this problem with some linen trousers. Trousers now bron stitching white. Lucky for me the stitching is neat and it's actually looks ok as they're summery trousers.
Sharpie didn't work for me

Possibly, although it might considerably add to the cost of the dress.

Don't think the Sharpie's working for me either. You can see in the stitching on the left. I've gone over it twice and it just shows through. Will have to wait and see if the polyester dye works. When it finally arrives.
