Best foundation for 40 something skin that gives a nice youthful "dewy" look?

I usually use Cliniques 'Almost makeup' which I love as it's nice and light and natural looking. I need something for the evening with a little more coverage but don't want it to look cakey . I've got reasonable skin which tends to be dry , oh and some lovely large open pores around the T zone. I want something that is fresh looking. I've heard good things about Chanel vitalumiere - anyone know if it's all it's cracked up to be? Thanks ladies , please advise in an orderly queue!

I do like Vitalumiere, but my absolute favourite is Georgio Armani Lasting Finish. Knocks a few years off!

Thanks novel sounds pricey but if it does what it says on the tin I'm sold!

If you like vlinique have you tried their repair wear make up? ( not the new one with added serum.) I loved it but then they stopped making it in pale shdaes. it gives full coverage but you need to use just a tiny bit and blend well.

I am currently using Clarins extra firming foundation which has a dewy -ish finish and medium coverage (I am mid 50s), and I want to try the new Laura Mercier moisturising foundation, just launched.

I don't like Chanel as all the colours are too dark/yellow for my skin.

bare escentuals for me as well
you need to get matched at Bare escentuals counter as it can be a bit tricky
it's the only foundation that actually lasts on me and I've tried loads of top brands
bte i have combo skin and am 49yrs but it suits all skin types , i use the matte version

I used to wear the Clinique almost make up but found I needed more coverage I as agedWink
Diorskin nude is good for coverage for evening but am liking the Garnier BB at the moment.
Maybelline eraser one is good also, as is My Face MyMix stuff from Boots.

Chanel vitalumiere was too yellow for me but I liked the effect/texture.

Have you tried the Liz Earle tinted moisturiser? Nice and dewy but not enough coverage for me. Ask for a sample at JL.

Mix your usual foundation with some MAC Strobe Cream.

Estee Lauder Futurist is lovely for 40+ skin, good coverage and really nice dewy finish. Liz Earle is quoted in her book as wearing it and she knows her stuff

Reviews for EL Futurist here are great

Hum, went to a BM concession today and was v. disappointed. Face felt dry afterwards and it looked like there was powder on it. In no way was my face dewy or youthful. Dh didn't think the colour match was good either. Took it off at home and went back to my usual Nivea tinted moisturiser.
Was looking forward to having my face done today as well Sad.

I'm a bit of a foundation whore but at the moment I'm alternating Make Up Forever HD and Ilamasqua Skin Base, the latter is pretty dewy, is in a huuuuuuge range of shades and I'm pretty impressed.

Another vote for MAC strobe cream. You will glow. Grin (but not in a shiny way).

Lancome Teint Renergie Lift. It lifts nothing, of course, but lovely dewy look.

I tried loads of samples over the summer (am 46) Vitalumiere (on the back of allthe rave reviews on here)I found it slimey and slippy on my skin. A Lancome one, er, photogenic something or other, recommended by Getorf, was OK, but now't special. I had a dip in my Mum's Clinique laser wear thingy and it seemed quite nice, but not luminous enough. (I know what I'm looking for, I just can't find it lol) A sample of a new Clarins one felt icky and sticky.....so in the end I went back to my Clarins Instant Smooth which I've been using since it came out.

I still think there is something out there, (possibly the By Terry, but budget won't quite run to that!)

you've got to be careful with luminous if you are older- it can really highlight the lines if you have any!

I think the sales talk is for " satin" finish if you want something that covers but i s not matte.

I thought EL Futurist was being discontinued? I had amake over with them not long ago and they wouldn't use that onme as they said (I think) they couldn't get the shade range at the moment.
