As local editor for a MN Local site, I am organising discounts with businesses in my area.
They can do this by starting a thread in local where they offer a special deal for MNetters.
I thought it would be good to have a MNetty phrase or word as a password, rather than just 'Could you deduct the MN discount please?'
So, you would walk into a shop, select what you wanted to purchase and whisper 'PomBears' to the shopkeeper.
Any ideas? Most of them are a bit naughty (such as Norks), so they might not want to use them.
Ha. That might work for some businesses, I guess. Maybe I should approach divorce lawyers.
Maternity wear - bump
Butchers - Naice Ham
Or, Mners could do a discreet "Ahem" like MNHQ do when we are norty
oh, of course. DOH. That would be a good one. 'Am I being unreasonable to ask for a discount' would be funny.
Pombears
AIBU
Am I being unreasonable
oooh, I like the idea of connecting it to the kind of shop, such as naice ham
Do you sell "twigs & pebbly shit"?
Local Site - in case you don't know it yet.
You have to register with a local user name, so you can keep your anonymity if you prefer.
We are organising meet ups, offering discounts and deals with local businesses, advertising local events such as school fetes - you can add your own event or business there.
We are also adding Things To Do for your area, and you can review local businesses, look for recommended tradesmen and lots more.
The more you use the local site, the more discounts we can wangle for you from local businesses.

What ever happened to lentil weaving??? Lentil weavers???? This is the phrase I have most used in RL and been outed,as serious partaker of MN! <shows age and runs for hills>
What about the goat? Won't somebody PLEASE think of the goat?
Or wine o'clock ... As quoted in various guardian and Sunday times articles...

God is lentil weaving an MN phrase?

I fear that one is slightly too obscure. What does it mean?
It did remind me of TSSNCOP - The Secret Service Never Comment On Procedure
