Just want a bit of reassurance really that sex from the get go isn't necessarily the kiss of death for a relationship.

Last night I had sex on the second date with a guy who seems absolutely lovely but I can't stop thinking that he'll just think I'm an easy lay and that'll be that. He has asked to see me again though :)

I'm no spring chick and should know better I suppose but it felt so right and this morning was lovely.

I had sex with him within 2 hours of meeting him. maybe less.

we've been married for 13 years.

We got married 3 months after that first meeting (and no, I wasn't pregnant Grin )

SchrodingersCatFliesToOz · 20/03/2011 12:48

I did, we have been together for 10 years now. It was our first date but I did knew him before IYSWIM. I was not a spring chick either Wink

Music to my ears :)

I did. 2nd date.

But I knew him first and I'm not exactly young myself. Nor is he Grin

SummerRain · 20/03/2011 12:49

DP and I were both with other people when we first shagged so didn't even go on a date Blush

9 years and three kids later......

ByTheSea · 20/03/2011 12:50

2nd date. Also not young and I had known him for a bit and we had talked a lot.

noddyholder · 20/03/2011 12:51

yes and have been together 20 years!

Bicnod · 20/03/2011 12:52

I did too. 2nd date (although first date was the previous night so didn't have to wait very long!). We've been together for over 10 years. We were friends first though. I was 21 and he was 22 so pretty spring chickeny Grin

Anais53 · 20/03/2011 12:54

Why is it then that whilst not exactly being frowned upon anymore, the received wisdom is that men tend not to respect you if you give it out too soon? Or am I living in the 20th century? Glad to have had such a response in barely 5 minutes :)

AnotherMumOnHere · 20/03/2011 12:54

I did too, the marriage lasted 17 years and Ive now been separated and divorced for 21 years.

Met and married within 5 months. There are no guarantees with any relationship so best enjoy yourself while you can.

noddyholder · 20/03/2011 12:54

'Do you shag on a first date?'
'No'
'See you tomorrow then' {shock] Grin The old ones are the best

HecateTheCrone · 20/03/2011 12:56

no. men who are using you for sex will not want a relationship with you when they've got what they were after.

There's a difference. A man who really likes you and wants to be with you will not bog off if you sleep together 'too soon'. Because it's you he's interested in.

Snorbs · 20/03/2011 12:56

Sex on second date. We moved in together quickly, too. Utter fucking disaster of a relationship.

lubeybooby · 20/03/2011 12:56

exH and I went for it about 4 hours after meeting and were together 10 years

DP and I 2nd date and together a year so far

My tendency to not really give a shit about dating and sex 'rules' though has ruined plenty of what could have been relationships. If I were ever to be dating again I would wait longer

noddyholder · 20/03/2011 12:57

There aren't many 'rules' when you really fancy someone

AyeRobot · 20/03/2011 12:58

Do you think badly of him for shagging on the first date?

Anais53 · 20/03/2011 12:58

Thanks Hecate. I suppose the first type of man you mention would bog off after the 5th or 6th date so maybe it's best to find out early on...

fluffles · 20/03/2011 13:00

second date for me and DH, i knew after first date that we were on for a long-term relationship but thought i'd wait till the second just to be sure Grin

mousymouse · 20/03/2011 13:00

here, and we are together 15 years now with 2 small beautiful dc. :)

theDudesmummy · 20/03/2011 13:02

Yes, here too (well, it wasn't a date, just met him one afternoon at a friend's house and left with him that evening). Have now been married almost 6 years.

julienoshoes · 20/03/2011 13:04

met him at work, on a placement.
At the end of the placement he finally asked me for a date- we had sex that night..........and we are still together and in love 31 years later.

I dunno whether it was love at first sight or lust at first sight......but what ever it was, it hasn't gone away!
Grin

BBwannaB · 20/03/2011 13:23

First meeting, not even a date Grin Silver Wedding Anniversary this year.

Anais53 · 20/03/2011 13:28

True Aye Robot, it does take two to tango. I'll just have to wait and see what happens now I guess and hope he meant what he said!

OP posts:
noddyholder · 20/03/2011 13:29

Maybe these rules have got it wrong all these years! perhaps if you are not so overcome with desire as to leap into bed within 24 hours then the relationship is not going to go anywhere

2old4thislark · 20/03/2011 13:31

1st date but we had worked together years before but then not met for 11 years. Together 15 years now.
