Im 10+4 and yesterday while out shopping i started having severe cramps which had me doubled over and nearly in tears i also felt a little leakage so i asked the manager of the shop i was in if i could use their toilet i explained i was nearly 3 months pregnant and couldnt hold it and he had no problem with allowing me to use it

While wiping i noticed bright red blood not having any pads on me i put a wad of tissue in my knickers n went to find my dp who took me straight home it took 20mins to get there and in that time i'd leaked through the tissue my knickers and my jeans (sorry if tmi) i changed my clothes and put on a pad while my dp phoned for an ambulance (as neither of us can drive) and went and got his sister to look after our 3dc

15mins later i had to change the pad again as it was full there were no clots just loads of bright red blood the ambulance took me straight to hospital on the way i had my bp checked twice and on both occasions it was sky high (i do have bp problems during pregnancy i had eclampsia on my 3rd child resulting in an emerg c-sec 4wks early)

At the hosp my bp was still high but it had lowered a little they did blood and urine tests which all came bk normal and was sent up to the EPU where i was examined and told it is most likely a miscarriage but theres a slim chance that i could still go on to have the baby as he said many women have bleeding in early pregnancy but still have normal pregnancys after the bleeding has stopped and the fact that so far i havent had any clots or tissue come out that it could be a good sign he also said that they cant know anything for sure until i have a scan and im booked in for one tomorrow at 11.15

Im not trying to get my hopes up to far as i know theres more of a chance of it being a miscarriage but i still want to get a little bit of hope

If your still reading then thank you as i know its a very long post

I haven't had any experience of this but wanted to let you know that I am sure that someone will come along in a little while who can offer you some reassurance. Take care xx

A friend of mine had a very heavy bleed at about 10 weeks. She said that it was so much and so quick that it was like she wet herself but it was blood. She was standing up at work and it ran down her legs onto the floor. It was a problem with her placenta which was low lying. She went on to about 38 weeks and went to her normal 38 week appointment. The mw said their was something wrong, I can't remember what but it was to do with her babys size. It was a locuum mw as her regular mw was on holiday. She went straight to hospital in an ambulance and had an emergency cs. Her ds was very small, 3lb something but is now a healthy 5yo. She had another baby with no probs but had 2mc, one before and one after her ds.

I had exactly this and ds2 is now a bouncing 14 month old.

For me it happened whilst out shopping, I felt wet looked down and jeans soaked to my knees, got home (arranged to meet mum there to take ds1) sat on toilet and more blood came out, dh thought I was having a wee but it was all blood, went to A&E but it was the Sat of a bank holiday weekend so I had to wait till the Tuesday for a scan, I bled heavily on and off for the whole weekend so by the time the Tuesday arrived I'd made my peace with the fact it wasn't ment to be but there was ds jumping around on scan. It was just bright red blood, no clots or cramps which apparently is more indicative of a mc.

I had random big bleeds till 18 wks and at 20 week scan they said placenta had moved and there was no evidence anything was wrong, was classed as low risk pg and had ds2 at home.
I was never offered an explaination except my GP who theorised when the placenta forms there can be a bit that doesn't 'stick' to the womb lining. Between the womb lining and the placenta is a 'blood lake' were all the exchange takes place and if the placenta doesn't have a good seal the blood can leak - I've never investigated it but it sounded a plausable reason so I've gone with it!

I was told it was quite common but never met anyone in rl who has had this with a positive outcome so I was scared when it happened but there are quite a few people on MN who seem to have been thro this, I really hope you are one of them and that everything goes well tomorrow x x please post and let us all know, will be thinking of you

(and if its all ok and you are bleeding, start taking extra iron, I didn't for a few weeks but I did get very run down, especially if you have other dc's to look after because the age old advice of 'just rest' is rubbish)

I bled between weeks 5 and 11. Bright blood, dark clots, the works. Some of the bleeding was so heavy I thought I was haemmoraging! the little one was absolutely fine throughout and now an 18month old cheeky monkey

It is a lonely torture feeling the bleed, I hope you are managing to take it easy

I bled every other day from about 7 to 10 weeks. Heavy enough to require a sanitary towel, but with no cramping or anything else that might cause concern (high BP et etc.)

DS is one in about 2 weeks.

Teeny bleed at 7 weeks with ds2. He is 14mo now. Had a scan and they said he was implanted too close to my cervix. Actually they didn't say "he" they said "the pregnancy" and that it probably wasn't viable. They told me to come back in 2 weeks.

10 days later I had a really heavy bleed - bright red blood, clots, tissue. I assumed I'd lost him. But they scanned - and were very surprised to tell me that "the baby" (they called him a baby this time!) was still there and growing fine.

I did have placenta praevia though.

Hang in there. Bleeding in pregnancy is scary and lonely. Let us know how it goes.

Had this with both DS1 and DS2, and whilst I had to put up with bouts of bleeding on and off everything else was fine. I did actually have a m/c between DS2 and DD and it was completely different - lots of cramps and clots rather than a straight bleed like you describe.

Hope everything goes well tomorrow.

Massive bleeing at 15 weeks - huge great gushes of bright red and cramping but no clots.

DS is now 2.

God but it's dreadful though. My thoughts are with you xx

Good luck. I bled from 6 - 9 weeks as heavy as mid period bleeding. Thought the worst to begin with, went through many pregnancy tests etc and went on to have healthy baby boy. Apparently it was a problem with my placenta. It did leave me very anaemic though.

Just wanted to say thinking of you - had bleeding at 10 weeks - not heavy but on a Friday and over weekend and couldn't get into EPU until the Tuesday so understand the stress of waiting for a scan. Now 26 weeks and it's twins. Hope all goes well for you and a big hug as the waiting is horrible.

Thinking of you here too MumGoneCrazy

I had quite a bad bleed around 10 weeks and my gynaecologist said it was the "memory" of my menstrual period (whatever that means!)...

Thankfully rest of pregnancy OK apart from threatened incompetent cervix ...dd now 5 yrs.

It's so stressful though. How are you today?
