If you really like them both then wait until the baby is born and see which suits her best.

I like Asha cos if you call her Tia, she might be nick-named Tia-Maria (sorry).

Whilst I love Tia I agree with the Tia Maria thing unfortunately. So Asha would be better.

Or how about Talia (DD2's name different but I love it so biased we have had so many comments about it how lovely it is) it's only another 2 letters from Tia as well

Both lovely. Wait until you see her - Tia and Asha are very different names, and she will undoubtedly suit one more than the other.

they are both chavy

sorry

I agree with 'goingfor3'. I think both names are lovely and my personal fav is Tia because we know a beautiful little girl with the same name. If you've managed to get down to two final names I would wait until she is born and then pick the name that suits. Hope all goes well.

Go for Talia then, it's an old Greek/Hebrew name (depending on which website you visit) and means Dew from Heaven, definitely not chavvy.

Surely Talia is spelt Thalia?

Report
bundle · 10/01/2008 14:32

what about natasha?
thalia is nice

Report

Yes I agree
Natasha and you can shorten to Asha if you want

As nicknames go Tia-Maria not THAT bad though!

Don't decide til you meet her. We narrowed our list of 10 down to a shortlist of 2, DS looked nothing like either of them so we had to revert to our longer list to find his right name.

The problem we have with Asha is, we love the name Asha, but its bound to get shortened to Ash, whilst there is nothing wrong Ash, its just not really girly. DH is worried that both names are chavvy?

I like them both - why not wait until the baby is born to see which one suits her best? You have 42 days after the birth to register the name, so there's no rush.

CD - Talia can be Talia, Thalia or Tahlia, in the US Talia is the most common spelling, we opted for Talia as we probaly would have nended up with h's in all sorts of places. Still doens' stop my Dad calling her Tal-Ya 2 years on though.

Love both names - particually Asha. We're calling ours Nayasha though, (a Zimbabwean name) - so I'm biased!

I like Talia but Tia and Asha sound a bit chavvy to me

like Hatrick I have only met male Ashers (one, incidentally, with a sister called Talia)

re Tia and Asha, personally I prefer more, well, classic names, as (I suspect) does your DH.

Talia certainly possibly
Lydia?
Leah?
Leila?
