Just a bit of light hearted fun - birth weight - big babies!!!!

Just wondering if there are any other Mum's out there who have had baby elephants and how their babies' weight compared.

I'm pregnant with No.3 and am predicting another big one! Hence name!!! Although I am 8 years older than I was the last time I did this, so maybe won't be so big.

#1 was a boy 10ib 10oz normal delivery
#2 was a boy 10ib 4oz induced normal delivery

Has anyone been told they're having a big baby. When I was in labour with my first the midwife thought I'd have a 7lb baby going by the size of my bump, still remember her face when he 'popped' out, it was a picture

PS anyone got any ideas about my listing re 'strange placenta'?

DS1 was 8lb 13oz and DS2 was 10lb 11oz 2 years later.
With Ds2 was told all the way through that he'd be big and was scanned a lot in later pg, MW's were very concerned but not so the COnsultant when I got to delivery suite the MW's took one look at me and said "big baby" and I was monitored very closely.
With Ds1 the MW I saw just before he was born said he would be around 8lb.

He he, I had a 'sizing' scan at I think it was something like 34 weeks, they measured the circumference of head and tummy, both average, and the length of the thigh bone, way over av. They combined these measurements and came up with a predicted weight of 8lbs.

What they didn't take into account was the fact that my first was a looooooooooooong / tall baby!!!!!!!! Do'h

When pregnant with DD i was told i was going to have a big baby as i measured big, they were warning me she was going to be at least 10lbs, she was born a pretty normal 8lb 5oz so nothing like they predicted. This time i'm alot bigger already so think this one will be bigger however its a boy so could just be carrying differently but no one has commented on my size this time!!!

Ds seems 'small' compared to some of these! He was 9lb 12 oz.
I was told I was having a 'big baby'by my midwife after having my first scan. Trouble is - I saw a different midwife on each check up and even though I mentioned what she had said, it never got followed up. I ended up with a large, breech baby and an emergency c section!

I had a 9lb 12oz one as well who needed to spend time in neonatal ICU and he look like a giant next to all those premmies! He filled the whole incubator!

ds1 was 9lb9.5 and ds2was 10lb12.5. both waterbirths.
with both i was told they would be big. with ds2 i had extra scans and was told about the possibilty of c-section the midwife told me they would not intervene unless they thought the baby had gotten to over 11lbs!!
turns out he was 10lb12 and i didnt have any 'traumas' so to speak the second time either.
i got up on the bed afterwards while the mw had a look and i said 'it's babd isnt it?!'
'not at all dear, just a graze'
i was so relieved as i have a strong needle phobia. but as placentas were mentioned, ds2s was so huge, the patch it left on the wall of my womb was so big i haemorraged badly.

Oooh, ladies, aren't be just heroes for doing this... keeping the human race going

I tore really badly with DS1, but with DS2 they told me to deliver 'doggy style' sorry, don't know how else to describe it!! Anyway, I didn't tear in this position, hoorah.

Think I'll probably go for that one again.

Ds1 - mw confidently predicted he would be 8 pounds. Actual weight 9lb12

Dd - same mw said 'it's nowhere near as big as ds1, in fact it's a tiddler, 7.5lb. Actual weight 10lb0

Ds2 - SAME mw said 'it's not going to be as big as dd, I reckon 9lb, he was 10lb2.

I did laugh at the last one!

dd1 estimated 7lbs was actually 6lb 3oz

dd2 estimated 7lbs was actually 8lb 13oz

dd3 estinmated 8lbs was actually 9lb 8oz

I am now expecting no.4 and hoping it won't be massive!!!

Oh no, I'm now scared of having another one! My ds was 9lb 1oz and everyone was very surprised at him being that big. The next one (if there is a next one) will be huge.

I'm sure babies are getting bigger. Since I had ds (10 months ago) quite a few people I know or know of have had 9lb plus babies.

Ds1 was 8lb 9.5oz (normal birth)

Ds2 and dd both 9lb 12oz - both cesareans

Ds3 was predicted by serial growth scans to be about 7 1/2lbs - I had a very neat little bump so imagine my surprise when he was 10lb 13oz (born at home with no pain relief )

OH MY GOODNESS.... there's a definite pattern here, in that when you have a 'biggen' they just keep getting bigger! Ooh flip. Maybe mine'll be a girl this time, then it'll be smaller

With my first I was told at 38 weeks that I should go for a scan (which I didn't go for I knew they were wrong) because they throught my baby was very small about 5lbs small but when in poped out (normal del) only 10 days later at 8lb 4oz, I said "I told you so!" Then with DS#2 I knew he was bigger and he poped out (normal del + op baby) he was 8lb 14oz. With this LO MW has hinted that they get bigger and biger so she said she thinks the same as me 9lber easy!

DS was predicted to be 10lb by my midwife 2 days before I gave birth and he weighed 9lb 13oz so she was damn close lol
I dread to think what the next one will weigh lol.

Dd 9lb9 - 12 hour labour, gas and air
Ds 10lb6 - 3 hour labour - made the hospital with 17 minutes to go - no time for pain relief!
Not having any more!

no 1 - boy induced on due date (high BP) 9lb11.

no2 - girl - 9lbs 10

no 3 - girl - 8lbs 4.

Both girls were a week late and all 3 weree normal deliveries. Think no 3 was smaller cos i was so sick and so busy.

When DH was born he was 13lb. Normal delivery. 7 years after his older sisters. That was 30 years ago.

Hoping for 7lber so I can finally get some wear from those new born size clothes!
