Scrambled eggs during pregnancy?

I've not long found out I'm pregnant and am getting my head around the advice on food/drink. But I'm confused about scrambled eggs - do they count as 'runny' yolks - as they are cooked through IFSWIM?

Probably a stupid question but I really really fancy some this morning! On NHS website just said no runny yolks should be 'firm' - while they're soft, the yolk definitely isn't still runny...

The advice on this changed recently anyway to say runny eggs are now allowed.

The advice over eggs has changed however the nhs seem to be behind the times. Runny yolks are fine as long as the egg is lion stamped (as the majority of eggs in the UK are).

In any case unless you are eating really sloppy scrambled egg I doubt it would be a problem.

They are fine. I've been eating them quite often whilst pregnant which is strange because I don't like eggs normally!
I think advice is now that runny eggs are ok anyway.

Amazing thank you! runs to kitchen
I'm not a huge fan of scrambled normally either but woke up ravenous really wanting them.

Annoying that the NHS is behind the times!

I realised I was pregnant when scrambled eggs made me want to heave.... But yes, they aren't runny yolks in any case

Normally I feel that way about scrambled eggs olennas (your username is EPIC by the way)

I've realised that I actually don't know anything about pregnancy now that it's actually happened. Thank god for MN!

I think it's about being sensible. I still probably wouldn't have a runny egg from a cafe but cooked at home with a lion branded egg would be no problem for me

I think we need a sticky post about pregnancy and food on this topic, the egg thing in particular comes up almost weekly at the moment! Smile

There is so much 'hysterical' advice around food. I got shouted at by a colleague the other day for eating hellmans mayonnaise Hmm

Realistically there are very few things that are actively unwise to eat/drink for example shark and excessive levels of alcohol.

Most other foodstuffs pretty much have the same risk to you pregnant or not pregnant e.g getting listeria from unpasteurised cheeses is always a (very small) risk if you eat unpasteurised cheese, the difference in pregnancy is that if you are incredibly unlucky enough to get listeria it might have a harmful effect on the baby.

I feel that as an adult women a lot of the 'advice' (or 'rules' as some people believe) is very paternalistic and patronising and I personally feel capable of weighing up the risks and making my own informed decisions about what I eat and drink.

Hope you enjoy your eggs OP Grin
