Co-sleeping bed any good?

Hi.
I'm looking at the Chicco 'next to me' at the moment, has anyone else got one or getting one? I just wondered if they are worth the £150? I am planning on going to buy it Wednesday.
Mainly because I'm having a elcs it'll be easier for me to I check on baby as she'll be right next to me I won't have to bend/lean into a crib. Although the side does go up when needed anyway.

Worth every penny! I didn't have a Chicco one but a similar one for dc2 and it was fabulous. With dc1 I was so worried about smothering him that I would get out of bed and sit in a chair to feed him, waking us both up. Then I'd have to crouch over the crib with my hand on his tummy until he settled. By which point I 'd be far too awake to get back to sleep. With dc 2 I'd have a quick shuffle to get into a comfy position, stay in my cosy bed to feed, then roll back to sleep. Much easier to shoosh them back to sleep without a feed too.

I'm expecting my first baby in October and I'm planning on getting the Snuzpod which is the same sort of thing, everyone I've spoken to that has used one says they are brilliant. They are relatively expensive and the babies will grow out of them in a few months but that goes for a lot of stuff!

I've bought one to use with my twins. I haven't tried it yet, but it gets excellent reviews. It's also one of very few options which will fit comfortably in our room, and I'm hoping it will aid in making night feeds a bit easier.

I have one, can really recommend, so easy just to slide them back after feeding without getting out of the bed. Mine is Fabimax - it's bigger than most co-sleepers and DC1 was a tall baby, would have grown out of smaller ones too quickly.

A lot of people use the ikea sniglar cot as a co sleeper by not fitting one of the side panels. It's about a foot longer than the Chicco and less than half the price - although you'd still need to buy a mattress but this would still be much cheaper than the Chicco and last a good wee bit longer. Can use it as a cot afterwards by reattaching the side panel or just stick it on gumtree if you're already sorted for a cot. :)

Please let me know how you get on . I have looked at this one too but from the descriptions I see that it can't be attached to your bed unless the side panel is permanently down. It can only be up if it's detached from the parents bed.
I sleep with pillows between my legs and have a big duvet and I would worry that I will kick a pillow on the baby in the night when there is no barrier.
Sorry to jump the thread but Anyone has any experience with a co-sleeper that can be attached to the parents bed and has a zip mesh barrier that can go up or down while the cot is attached????

My daughter bought one recently and it's been brilliant! She is breastfeeding so at night feeds her ds and then just slides him back in his crib right next to her! She says it's the best ££ she has spent!!

I had one when my DS was little, (almost 12 months now) he was in it till he was almost 8 months basically when he got a bit too long and a could start sitting up from lying down we changed to a cot!

It's true you can't have it against your bed without the side being permanently down! But it still worked well for us! It is a brilliant bed and I will use it again if we happen to have another baby!

I got one called Troll from Amazon. Really good, sadly it was mainly used as a bedside table as DD wanted to sleep on my chest all the time.

The Chicco is amazing, just sold it after using it for DC2, we paid £140 and sold it for £120.

Snuzpod you can put the side up and down while it's attached. When it's down it lies accross the gap on to your mattress

BeeHappy- theres a lip that comes up its soft fabric, have a look at the photos you'll see what I mean. So your baby won't fall out of roll into you (once they're on the move) all in all its perfect I think x

I have the Chicco and it's absolutely great. What I really like is the fact that it's on an incline - you wouldn't notice it but my baby's much happier in it than he was in a flat Moses basket. It is so much easier to just reach for them, feed them in bed then slide them back in to the crib. You can see your baby, hear him and it's the best thing ever to wake up face to face.

I had the fabimax and really loved it. It just made feeding so much easier at night time but I liked that I got to putt dd in her own space as I would be too nervous to have her in the bed. Dd was tiny so she was in it until nine months which was around the time she stopped night feeds.

thanks MummyPiggy87 and hotcrossbun83 I think the snuzpod will be great for me. I have read that the bassinet alone can be difficult to lift as it's quite heavy but so far it's the only co-sleeper with flexible mesh panel that I have found. I think for downstairs I will need to use the carry cot that will come with the pram.

That's what I did bee, I planned to take the bassinet downstairs but there was no need. Actually for a while ds would only sleep in the pram bassinet as it was snug, the co sleepers can be v open to start with if you have a baby that likes to be enclosed. Can confirm that the uppababy bassinet fits inside the snuzpod!

I know some people don't rate them, but I just grabbed a bargain Moses basket from mother care for £25 for when baby is downstairs with me!
(Hoping she won't be too long and will be able to last awhile in it!) Unfortunately my pram isn't suitable for long periods of time to sleep

I bought the snuzpod - total waste of money. The mesh side is extremely uncomfortable so you can't slide a sleeping baby across it. You have to lift them, so might as well use a moses basket on a stand. The other really awkward thing is if you need to get up to wind the baby, having the snuzpod next to the bed means you have to shuffle down to the end of the bed to get up. Try going this with stitches anywhere on your under carriage or after a c-section. It hurts!

It makes a nice sturdy crib that can be rocked but it didn't stay attached to our bed for more than a couple of nights.

I haven't heard many good reviews about the snuzpod which is why I'm getting the chicco as its lighter, has wheels and it's a travel cot, so all in all it sounds much easier than the snuzpod, and it's cheaper!
I've also read a review about that mesh being uncomfortable.

I've rented a bednest. Felt like a good option. It was £79 for 7 months with free new mattress and sheets. They're supposed to be excellent so perhaps worth a look on their website

I have an NCT bednest and it's been great. It has a mesh side that can easily be moved up and down and is attached to the bed.
Whilst I agree with Worserevived about the shuffling it still does make feeding easier. Not all babies need to be winded or you can just wind them in bed. My bednest is not placed right at the top of my bed, leaving space for a small bedside table so I can have a drink etc.. left there.
It's been a great hire as we already have a bigger cot with DC1 still in it, so it's saved us having to buy a new cot, mattress & sheets.
Word of warning, if you google it there has been an incident where a baby died, very sad, but the parents were using the cot incorrectly. So so read the instructions on any purchase.

I love my snuzpod. I like being able to see my baby and hold her hand. Being able to really quickly check on her and snuggle close when she needed it.

However...I did fall for the "you can just feed in bed and pop them back".

When my baby gets up I change her and therefore have to get out of bed. For long feeds at newborn age I found sitting in bed uncomfortable and therefore got up and sat in a chair. It really all depends!

My girl likes her bed and had struggled to sleep in the pram carrycot, I think partially because she can't see me from it. So it's swings and roundabouts!

I would buy a snuzpod again though!

I've got a small cot you can push the side down and use as a co-sleeper for the first few months and baby can sleep in it until it's 3 years old.

They sell on Amazon as well, it was through reading the reviews on there that I discovered that it could be used as a co-sleeper.

I spent around £170 in all, as got the mattress, waterproof sheet, drawer and change mat - all in all a pretty good deal, especially if it lasts until baby's three! (Though I have my reservations about this: we make tall babies in my family, but short ones in dh's so it could go either way!)
