I am 6weeks pregnant today and i have gone from not having much of an appetite to constantly wanting sugar. I have awful morning sickness, all day sickness should i say, and come night time all i want is fizzy sweets and ice lollies, anything else just comes straight back up, sorry tmi! Is anyone else experiencing anything like this?

Long time ago but with both my pregnancies I became addicted to junk fast food in the early stages. Before that I hardly ever went to McD's etc. It was kind of nice!

I suffered with really bad sickness for the first 20 weeks and during that time my doctor was happy for me to eat whatever I felt like (obviously within reason) and what I could get to stay down.
I found fizzy cola bottles and rhubarb & custard sweets amazing!
Like Tuesday I had a McDonald's craving which didn't go away with my sickness! I'd break an arm for a big Mac right this minute Hmm

Oh god yes. One week it was ham, which I definitely overdid... Last week I went to McDonalds three times Blush this week I seem to be on a pastry binge...

Bad news.....I've been eating fizzy sweets solidly for 37 weeks now! Grin

I think I'm keeping Haribo in business. Even with ghastly heartburn I must have my Tangfastics!

Ice poles tons and tons of ice poles, for the first few weeks I felt so so thirsty and no matter how much I drank I never felt hydrated so ice poles seemed to do the trick. I have kind of went off sweets like chocolate... Which is so odd for me because I could usually eat like 3 bars a day ha! X

Salt. I'm 6+6 and currently craving strongly flavoured salty things. Monster Munch, Pork Scratchings, I've got mad for Bovril on toast (Many thanks to an fellow MNetter for suggesting this). I licked the inside of a stock pot concentrate container last night.... Blush
I'm tending to lean towards haribo in the afternoon, I have a stash of starmix I'm ninja-eating in my desk drawer.

All my pregnancies in the early stages were characterised by craving any sort of highly coloured, processed, strong flavoured, non-food-tasting food.

Bought my first ever pack of Fruit Pastilles when I was 6 weeks pg with my first and never looked back. Also ate a lot of ice pops.

In fact, by number 3, I knew I was pregnant before my period was late as I was drooling over Pot Noodles in the supermarket.

I think it's something to do with your body instinctively avoiding fresh or raw foods which would be more vulnerable to causing food poisoning in addition to hormonal changes.

Thanks everybody. I do find i am steering clear of fish, even if cooked myself and chicken etc just incase it isnt cooked properly. It is my 3rd pregnancy and i also knew before i took the test as i had a very random appetite as oppose to my usual strict low fat (no fat) diet,. I still find it hard to eat fatty foods which is totally different to my first pregnancy, my second pregnancy i didnt find out until 20weeks and was sick right up until birth so wasnt really eating much. I do have a craving for chocolate which i never eat as i dont like it so i allow myself a bitesize piece. I also think the fact that i have completely stopped smoking straight away has something to do with my hunger as i need something in my hand, not that this is a bad thing i just dont want to bloat too quickly as i really want to keep it quiet until 14weeks which i couldnt do with my first pregnancy as i showed literally straight away. As i am a very slight person i know people will guess right away

I lived on sherbet lemons with my daughter. Couldn't get enough of them!

Later on during my pregnancy with my daughter I craved citrus. I would buy bags and bags of oranges and devour them. Didn't get that with my son.

Yep, at that stage I was living on a diet of ice pops and sour cherry Haribo! Grin

Interesting, fizzy sweets contain bicarbonate of soda, which will help to resolve indegestion! Look up the symptoms of indigestion... It's exactly the same as morning sickness! Maybe your body knows what it's doing!

I'm so thirsty all the time I just want coca cola all the time but can't really. I am just eating food and LOTS of it ALL the time? I expect to look 6 months pregnant by the time I am 3 months. Mm, did have the monster munch pickled onion the other day - my favourite :)

i am trying to cut back on sweets to be honest but citrus fruit and ice lollies are impossible to stop but they are mainly liquid so not a bad thing. The latest is meat, just meat, no veg or potatoes, just meat, i try to eat veg etc but i get really full and bloated even after the first few mouthfuls!!! If i eat stodgy foods i am sick within 15mins so really trying to avoid them for now!!! I ate everything in sight with my first pregnancy and gain 4st which i lost really quickly, gained about 1.5st with my second and again lost it rediculously quickly. It is an important thing for me to lose the weight quick due to previous illness but i would never let it affect my unborn child. Just keep thinking after number 3 it isnt going to be quite so easy

Olive oil for me! I'm cutting slices of bread and drowning them in olive oil. Maybe that's weird....?

Mine were fizzy sweets, chips and lemonade! 3 things I didn't usually eat / drink. I must've needed the sugar.

Massive cravings for McDonalds Strawberry milkshake throughout 1st pregnancy, I'm 7 weeks+ 5 this time and craving them like crazy.
Funny thing is I'd never had them before I was pregnant but somehow knew that's what I wanted.

Jam donuts, sour fizzy or chewy fruit sweets and McDonald's vanilla milkshakes, although I've only had 2 of those as strictly speaking they are banned due to the soft ice cream in them Confused. The jam donut phase seems to be ending but the others continue. I'm nearly 16 weeks, although thanks to these cravings look about 6 months! Blush

I am sat here eating one of those chalky lollies. So yummy. Cant really bare the thought of chocolate, but ice lollies, orange juice and refresher bars are my best friend. Oh and chip shop chips and curry sauce seem to also be my craving, in fact...i want anything that is bad for you lol

I'm eating loads of sweets- I'm liking tangfastics and Orange tictacs at the moment. I also crave salty food especially salt and vinegar crisps. Have totally gone off loads of foods including chocolate, cheese, tea, eggs. Some nights I've just been eating bread for tea as I can't face anything else. Am 9wks. Was exactly like this last time around along with the horrendous sickness. Wishing the time away until 2nd trimester!

I am defo joining you all on the salty foods but not crisps, salted pretzels are a must at the moment but strangely i seem to have lost 2lb over the past 5days, i am sick afetr most meals but i dont bring everything up, sorry tmi, i am not the biggest as it is, 7st 10lb at the moment and 6.5weeks pregnant, i have been eating alot more than before i was preg so i expected to put on and i do feel "big" come evenings but the scales are telling me otherwise!!! Sat here wondering what to have for tea as havent been able to stomach anything since going for a carvery this afternoon which absolutely all of it came back up and more but nothing is coming to mind, i bought loads from the shop before thinking i could sit down and chill tonight while kids are in bed and have the house to myself so thought i could just pig out but so far all i have had is ice pops and a few pretzels...... usually not eating doesnt bother me but i want to do the best for my unborn child!!!
