I'm not experiencing early labour pains am I?

This is a bit embarrassing but I can't tell if I'm being paranoid and reading too much into things or if I'm in very early labour.

I've had cramping on and off since 1.30am. Painful enough to wake me but allows me to get back to sleep in between cramps. My lower backs is also sore and aching but I do suffer from pain there anyway so I can't tell if it's out of the ordinary or not. Degenerative disc disease /bulging disc pain is my normal level so that's why I can't tell if it's that pain or not.
I'm scheduled to have an elcs because of back issues so if it is labour I don't want to let it progress too far but if it's not I don't want to look like a fool/ waste anyone's time.
I'm 35 + 3

It's hard to say as that isn't unlike how contractions feel. Try timing them; are they in waves and do they swell and die away?

Perhaps call your midwives to see if anyone could visit to inspect you - as if you were having a home birth. You could go to the hospital, the maternity unit normally fob you off until they are 5mins apart but as you are early it would be a concern I imagine and they'd want to have you in to monitor things.

Good luck Cake

Thanks EugenesAxe. They do swell and they're about a minute long. Coming roughly every 30 mins or so

If they're still bothering me in a couple of hours I'm going to call and see what they say

Taking, go now, this is how my early labour started at 32 weeks and I ended up having to go through a risky VB as I was 5cm before anyone realised!

I would definetly get checked out. I'm in exactly the same situation as you - ELCS due to back problem and I've been told if I even suspect I'm in early labour I need to get checked out ASAP. I'm 36 + 3 and my baby is very low down with his head engaged already, so any little twinge I'm immediately thinking he's coming! Better to be safe than sorry and don't worry about looking foolish. Good luck!x

How are you op?

Thank you for your concern

I called the midwife at 11am, I'm still getting painful cramping and loose bowel movements (tmi! Sorry) along with back pain. Though I was at the osteopath this morning and she said my sacram was twisted and very stiff discs which could account for the back pain. The midwife thought it might be a bug, told me to drink 2 litres of water to flush my system and call back about 3/4pm so she could make a call on whether they needed to see me.

Pains coming every 5 mins. On my way to the hospital. Trying not to panic, DH is away until tonight.

Do not panic. You're going to the right place. Your DH had better get moving too! Hope all goes ok.
Ps My mw told me I had a bug too, when loose bowel movements were clearly a sign of labour starting...

Thanks Domestic. My lovely aunt is meeting me at the hospital, poor DH feels awful and is stuck in Europe for work. Can't get an earlier flight but thankfully lands back in London late this evening. Parents are abroad too.

Well I'm in hospital hooked up to monitors and just had my epidural put in. Contractions were every 3 mins by the time I got in. Still having my section and hoping DH makes it. If baby behaves and I don't progress too fast they're going to hold on until DH gets here

Cross your fingers for me!

Holy shit I'm having a baby
