The old thread is nearly full so here's a new place for us to chat about our July babies. Help yourself to some tea & cake to keep you going through the sleepless nights Brew Cake.

Thinking of you zing hope all goes well

Thanks for new thread nancy

Up since 3am got ds to sleep 2 but wouldn't go down then after feed did a big poo so woke himself up rather than back to sleep as had hoped. By 5 dh took him so had a good hour sleep. Just fed again and got more poo. No fair as dh just left for work! Going to visit uni friends today which should be a good distraction!

I've been up since 4 Confused though ds had about 7.5 hours sleep last night waking once for a feed at 1 so I feel ok as i had about 6.5 hours though I did go to bed about 8 last night! Seems to be the way to get a decent amount of sleep atm! He's been asleep on me since 7 - I haven't put him down as his first nap always seems to be light sleep and if I hold him he'll sleep longer than 20 mins and be in a better mood. I will put him down for his second morning nap though so fingers crossed. He's also been quite chirpy this morning on his mat so I managed to tidy up a bit and have some breakfast so fingers crossed...

Btw I bought him a play nest ring thing which he likes for about 5 mins at a time so hopefully this will help too.

He's such a cutie when he's not screaming though his favourite thing at the moment seems to be trying to stand on my belly and walk all over me and he keeps looking intently over my shoulder which I'm sure means he has plans to climb over me and the sofa!

All the best, Zing.

Thanks for the thread, Nancy.

Sounds like your little one might be an early walker, Auntie.

DD2 slept 7 hours last night for the first time! So pleased because I've got a horrible sore throat so really needed a good night.

She has also started giving me kisses. It is the best.

auntie our ds' sound very similar! I always let him sleep on me for first morning nap as if put him down is only 20mins. He's much happier after a decent sleep although frustrating that I can't be sleeping too!

Auntie I could have written your post about the morning nap and the climbing!

But last night we actually had our first decent night's sleep! DS only woke once! Sadly I don't think we will be recreating it, we went out for dinner at my brother's during baby's bedtime, there was much wailing and bad breastfeeding (still having excessive letdown issues!) then he fell asleep in the car, fed a bit more at home and then slept.

aww kiwi that's cute... ds just tries to eat my face and laughs when I kiss him Hmm

ickle if he starts stirring I tighten my hold and he sleeps for a bit longer

Glad everything went well for Zing!

Here we celebrated my dad's 60th today mostly with a very very grumpy crying DD, culminating in a projectile vom this afternoon. Not the best of birthdays I fear, although the evening was much better once I had gotten hosed down and changed and the same for DD

Parents go home tomorrow. #sadface #peaceatlast

Thanks for shiny new thread Nancy

"I did it!" said DH just now after he resettled DD2 who had woken up at 9.45pm. I'm in the bath so it was much appreciated! Wonder how long until she wakes again? At least I'll be clean when she does.

Spoke too soon, bath over! Very unusual for her to wake at this time so I suspect we have entered the growth spurt zone.

Thanks, Nancy.

Up at 2:00 am feeding DD. Her middle of the night wake-ups are still all over the place; first one is any time between 12:30 to 3:00, second one, if there is one, between 4:30 and 6:00. Oh, and she has just done an enormous poop. Great. DH is away this week; he is the usual middle of the night nappy changer...

Ohh well done zing ho9e recovery isn't too had- whats your thread called?

Well finally managed a half decent nights sleep! Ds went 7-1 then until 3. Was up for half hour then he slept until 4.45 so dh fed and had him until 6. I've definitely got a cold all achy and shaky today Sad not good. Hope ds is in a good chilled mood...

How have you all managed to get your babies to sleep before late night? DD2 basically only does 15-30 minute naps from when she wakes up in the morning (approx. 9am) till 11pm or so. I'd really like to get her sleeping from about 7pm.

Well kiwi I'm having to go to bed at 8 atm since ds has decided to go to sleep earlier because it means he wakes earlier so I wish he would go to sleep later - if your dd is sleeping til 9 you're lucky as I'm usually up somewhere between 4 and 6! He sleeps for about 5 hours maybe 6 if i'm lucky then has a feed then sleeps another 2/2.5 hours before the next feed and then it's a struggle to get him to sleep again But may get another hour - eg 8-1, feed, 1.30-4, feed, then maybe 5-6 (this morning he went back to sleep for 20 mins!). He'll then have a nap at about 7.30/8 depending on what time he woke up but if its not on me he'll only sleep for about 20-30 mins otherwise he'll nap for 2 hours. He used to be really perky all morning for about 3/4 hours but now he's like that in the evening though things have been a bit messed up as he seems to be teething.

I read they're supposed to get about 9 hours at night at this age (4 months) with at least one feed which is roughly what ds gets.

Forgot about trade offs. DD will go to sleep at 11pm ish then wake for a feed somewhere between 5 and 7am then sleep for 1 or 2 more hours. She'll be 3 months on Friday. I think I do prefer having her up in the evenings and sleeping till DD1 gets up than the idea of waking earlier. One day they'll all sleep properly.

We have 7pm bedtime and that's sometimes too late as she's overtired by then. I didn't do anything to encourage it, it's when she falls asleep. I'm exhausted after last night though as she woke at 9.45, 1.30,3.30,6! We used to get 7.5-8 hour stretches so hopefully this is just a growth spurt.
