KiwiPanda · 04/12/2011 19:00

Hello all Grin sorry in advance for rubbish & short post, am on the iPhone while feeding my lovely little dd2 & trying to convince her it is bedtime. She is not falling for it. I had forgotten how difficult it is to get a new baby (well, newish, she's 7 weeks now) down in the evening

KiwiPanda · 04/12/2011 19:01

Oops even more rubbish thatn intended ! Just popped on to say hello and send love to all xx

JollyBear · 04/12/2011 19:01

Thanks for new thread! Great news on your sisters engagement Jam.

Will be doing S Santa draw soon. Last chance for anyone yet to sign up!

traceface · 04/12/2011 19:12

hello ladies :)
Thanks for the new thread beans
(although please don't feel you can't continue to post about the tough stuff)

More good news here - my uncle had an op at Guys and is on the road to recovery, getting better every day :)
Also, my friend has just had her first baby - a healthy little girlie! Hurray for new life.
db so glad your nan's service was just right. How are things with DH these days?
jam and invis, lovely family news from you two. Maybe the thread is going to get an extra dollop of joy now to lift us.
Nothing much happenning here - general busy-ness (how do you write that without writing business?) of life leading up to Christmas - school concerts, fairs, parties...and P's birthday is a week today, so I'm not even really concentrating on Christmas until that's out of the way! My head can only hold one event at a time! Good job her birthday isn't the 24th or I'd have a very un-prepared Christmas! Too many exclamation marks. Must refrain.
P has been poorly all last week with a mega high temp, but is definitely on the up. She's surviving on a diet of parectomol, ibuprofen and muller rice Smile and is needing someone beside her to go to sleep - hope we don't get into an unbreakable habit!
anyway so sorry this is so brief, but I think dh is craving some attention!
Take care everyone xxx
Xmas Grin

JamInMyWellies · 04/12/2011 19:12

Yay new thread. Thanks Beans.

Just been to see Arthur Christmas thoroughly recommend to get you into the Christmas spirit. DS2 clapped at the end and DS1's eyes were like saucers the whole way through.

traceface · 04/12/2011 19:14

ooh cross-posted!
kiwi great to see you. Hope your wee one is well. Sleep vibes coming your way Xmas Smile

VagolaJahooli · 04/12/2011 20:10

Sorry just flying in quickly as have loads to do and only 2 more sleeps. Great thread title and good idea on creating the new thread.

Hi trace, Jam & Invis Woop Woop, & DB thank-you for letting us know how the wake went.

Now the reason I'm flying in quickly I need some aeroplane reading. Any suggestions. I'm thinking of downloading the latest PD James as I think its easy reading. But any other suggestions would be appreciated.

traceface · 04/12/2011 20:13

vag I love John O Farrell - have you read May Contain Nuts? but i'm not a literary-type so others may not agree!

JollyBear · 04/12/2011 21:15

How about something Christmassy vag The Christmas Carol? I like a Sherlock Holmes in the Winter too.

Have you read 'One Day' by David Nicholls? That would be a good book for a journey.

VagolaJahooli · 04/12/2011 21:21

Yeah read that JB. An S.H. might be good actually. Trace I read the blurb for that book, it sounded like me after DS1. I think I would quite like it now.

JamInMyWellies · 04/12/2011 21:44

Vag recently read The Knitting Circle, The Midwives Confession,The Slap,That Summer In Ischia. Tinker Tailor, Soldier, Spy,When God Was A Rabbit. All pretty good easy reads apart from T,T, S, S. Oh and also a favourite trilogy from my early teens which I love re reading The first one is called When Hilter Stole Pink Rabbit, they are by Judith Kerr the Mog the Cat author. SUper exciting have a brilliant time.

Just had my email from MrJollyBear. How much are we spending??

TheInvisibleHand · 04/12/2011 22:53

Never mind DCs birthdays, I see from facebook there are a couple of birthdays for the grown ups on here! You know who you are ladies, many happy returns!

spotofcheerfulness · 05/12/2011 00:39

Hello all, and thanks for the new thread, great idea.
Had some hideous illness here for the past few weeks, won't bore with details but B is currently vomming and has high fever and that's good, relatively speaking.
Came back this afternoon from a weekend away with some girlfriends and it was wonderful and restorative. DP had hellish time with the DSs because of their illnesses and lack of accompanying sleep but I was so exhausted I couldn't have gone on. This time last night I was sipping champagne in front of a roaring fire in a cottage in the New Forest. Tonight I am waiting for B to vom and the Calpol to kick in so I can go to sleep. Ah well, it's a varied life...

Beans36 · 05/12/2011 08:14

Vag, highly recommend book I've just read called The Book of Human Skin by Michelle Lovrik. V funny and kind of sick!

Back later for more x

Morning.

Just popping on so I'm on new thread.

Is the secret santa £10 or am I imagining that?

KiwiPanda · 05/12/2011 10:18

Vag Sherlock Holmes and Father Brown stories - short stories rather good for the short attention span that planes tend to lead to?? Also really enjoying the Booker prize shortlist (DH bought me it as a pack) - Snowdrops and Jamrach's Menagerie v good

Beans36 · 05/12/2011 12:21

Good news on your uncle, Trace - hurrah! My little bears aren't really 100%. DD1 got squits and even did a poo in her nappy last night in her sleep, which is unheard of! She wakes up to do wee, let alone poos! She woke me at midnight to go and do a runny poo later on. The only thing she's eaten today is a few cheerios and a tangerine. Her choice. She wouldn't even eat a bit of cake offered by a friend of hers. DD2 only eating pear and some cheerios too. All a bit sad.

DD1 is 3 tomorrow - hurrah! I'm working til 11, then going to collect her from nursery, but leaving DD2 there. Then taking DD1 to see Arthur Christmas - hurrah! So exciting! MIL has got her a scooter and we've got her this.

Right, must go and pop DD2 to bed.

Ah bummer, have I missed the Secret Santa? Sorry has been (slightly) organized chaos here! But got back today so will get on with catching up and trying to gain some kind of control over the move, and more importantly, Christmas tree selection, and bauble colour schemes and placement Blush
Right have only skimmed, but thanks for the thread Beans.... Happy birthday to toddlerBean for tomorrow!

Rubena · 05/12/2011 15:18

Oh and thanks Veggie - yes I agree, and dh has said if he has any soreness at all we will take him straight to the GP. OOh which reminds me - MUST register at new GP.... add to the MOUNTAIN of tasks to do! You must be excited Veggie.....

VagolaJahooli · 05/12/2011 19:27

Hello lovely ladies, just laying down with my boys to go to sleep. It was sintaklaas today and traditionally the kids get their gifts in the evening. There is a load knock at the door and mysteriously a sack of toys. Also the man himself visits all the schools to say goodbye so that was fun for DS1 today. Tonight we did the knock on the door while the boys were in the bath and they flew out to see if they could catch the man himself but alas when they got there it was just the sack of presents. We got DS1 a little meccano robot and DS2 got a big hotwheels dinosaur truck. A few bits of tat and the boostapaks. They were surprisingly chuffed with the boostapaks. DS2 was extra lucky. I had a gift voucher of ?7.50 for a local toy shop and popped in with the boys intending to get DS2 one last birthday present to take away with us, a little playmobil motorbike. With the voucher it would have only cost ?1.50. However, when we got to the shop they had loads of stuff on sale as they were trying to get last minute sintaklaas sales. Anyway they had a buzz lightyear toy on sale for ?29.99 but with my discount it was 22.50!!!! Is was so chuffed he has been wanting one but they are usually ?60. So he has gotten it as an early birthday present. He has taken it to bed and it pretty pleased with himself.

JamInMyWellies · 06/12/2011 06:54

Vag that sounds great. When are you off?

Ds2 has slept through for the past 2 nights. It feels so good to have uninterrupted sleep. Never thought I would be talking about sleep still when he is almost 3.

Beans is it DD1's bday today?

VagolaJahooli · 06/12/2011 07:32

Jam DS2 still wakes a couple of times, usually cos he needs a wee which is annoying. He was not impressed when I had to wake him at 6.40am. Why is it that on the weekends he happily wakes for the day at 6.30 but on weekdays or mornings I need him up earlier he sleeps in.

sybilfaulty · 06/12/2011 07:39

Happy birthday to DD1 lovely Beans. Hope all are well again now and that she has a lovely day XXXX
