What do you hope will be the outcome of the Election and what do you realistically predict!?

I would love to see a Lib Dem government but as that's unlikely to happen, a Labour majority would be good.

Realistically, I wonder if Labour will get a majority with the SNP and LDs voting on issue by issue, not a coalition.

Interesting that Michael Gove wouldn't talk about a coalition on the news yesterday as he said the Conservatives would have a majority.

What do you all predict?!

Would most like a Labour majority.
Really don't know what I'd predict - but have a horrible fear the Tories will get the most seats and Nick Smeg will eagerly jump in again and enable them all over again.

Tory majority

Is that what you want, Korky, or your prediction of what will happen?

I'd like a labour/snp coalition

I predict labour/SNP, with a Tory coalition with someone being second most likely.

Not sure what I'm hoping for really. Any coalition with UKIP in is my worse case. I thought Nichola Sturgeon came across very well in the debate but I don't know if she'll be a good thing for non-Scots, although I'd hope so. Not a huge fan of any of the top three leaders.

I want a left-wing coalition, with plenty of green influence, maybe lib dem, I'd love there to be a class war rep or two in there as well. Labour woukd probably have to lead it. And no ukip in sight, very few tories left. What I expect we'll get.. well not sure really, this election is quite open. I think I do still expect the tories in power, but if they do get in I don't think they'd last the full term this time.

I think it will be an SNP majority up here

Overall I think it will be a Labour majority - but only just.

I would like the SNP to fuck off to the far side of fuck for-evva and I would like a Labour/Lib Dem Govt

I'd prefer a Labour led govt with SNP/Plaid/Green support. I'd be happier with that than a straight labour majority govt, given their authoritarian tendencies.

I suspect we'll get another Tory/Lib Dem coalition with the addition of UKIP.

Surely UKIP aren't a serious coalition partner prospect? They've got barely any MPs.

I can't see a formal deal being done with Labour/SNP because of Trident and a Tory/UKIP coalition still won't give them a majority based on current polling. The Lib Dems still could control the make up if the future government.

I wonder if, instead of any formal coalition, we'll get a minority government with deals done on a case by case basis.

I would love a Green victory (!) over any of the major parties as I dislike all 3. However Labour would be the least worse for me. The Tories are the enemy of social justice in my books.

....And Nicola Sturgeon's parents buying their council house way back in the 80s, despite hating Thatcher and despite NS not allowing the scheme up here - SNP hypocrisy is alive and well Angry

I know more about what I don't want. I don't want snp (far too left wing and they are only interested in Scotland). I don't want ukip (where do I start, but I think a ukip majority would mean we add up our Australia points and go) and I don't want green (far too left wing, naive and uncosted (uncostable, if that's a word).

I don't trust the eds and I can't bear the Tories. Clegg is not a good leader.

I don't know what I hope for. Although Tbo on current promises, lib dem seem to fit best with my values. We are in a very safe Tory majority area though!

all decent people to hell in a handcart Hmm What's your definition of a 'decent person', then?

I hope and pray for a left-wing coalition; Labour led, Green influence. Possibly the LibDems if they can prove they've learned their lesson! Failing that I would be happy with a Labour majority but I think it's unlikely.

I fear we'll get the Tories back in. I don't think it will be a landslide though - which will make it even worse seeing that slimy bastard's face on TV every day, knowing that he doesn't even have a proper mandate to be there. Then plenty of people really will be going to hell in a handcart...

I think Labour and LD will be wiped out in Scotland by SNP which will make a Tory Maj down here and therefore overall. Can't see UKIP being a major enough force to do anything. One MP if anything.

Would prefer Lib/Lab coalition but I don't think I can bring myself to vote for our Labour candidate and we are in a key marginal. For me it will boil down to constituency good over overall worrying about severe cuts to public services and more inequality.

The thing is callmebrian, the mail has always hated labour. It isn't really the place I would go for a reasoned, logical or accurate argument (on anything).

I've tended to vote Lib or Green but will be voting Labour this year; where I live it's a safe Labour seat and I'm happy with our MP (Ben Bradshaw). Sadly voting the way I usually do is a bit of a wasted vote atm and a Labour vote is the only way to guarantee keeping the seat safe from the right wing parties. So there is an element of tactical voting but as I said I am happy with our Labour MP. Overall I am hoping for a Labour win, with influence from Lib & Green. Worst case scenario IMO would be for the Tories to stay or UKIP to get in.

"DOesnt history tell us LAbour always fuck up the economy"

Chipstick10, no, it doesn't tell us that at all. Here's a Business Insider link generally discussing government spending - which I think you'll agree isn't coming from a leftwing perspective.

And if you've got a bit more time, here's a helpful macro-economics blog which looks at trend rates of growth since the 2nd world war. Leaving aside the global fiscal crash, all three deviations below trend rate of growth have happened under Conservative governments.

The one thing that I would say the Thatcher/Major governments were good at, tho this latest one not so much, is helping very small businesses and self employment (possibly because of Thatcher's background?), which I think is a good thing for society in general.
