Welcome to a new prayer thread to take us into the summer. This is a safe and supportive place of prayer, where regulars, occasional visitors and lurkers, committed Christians and those just dipping a toe into the water are all equally welcome. Come and leave a prayer, tell us what's going on in your life, bring your worries, hopes, fears and joys to God, and know that you will be prayed for.

We pray, in particular, for...

... ALittleFaith, especially for her dad, who has been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease;

... amberlight, for her work raising awareness of the ways in which we can work to make life easier for our autistic friends, and for her to know love and acceptance wherever she goes;

... Anjelica27, as she tries to find ways to support her DS through his mental health problems and self-harm;

... AnxiousKeziah, following the loss of her baby DS;

... BlackEyedSusan, for all the many things which she has to juggle in her life as a single parent; for good support for her DD and DS; and for her mum;

... BlueTinkerbell, thanking God for the safe arrival of her beautiful DD4;

... Bsshbosh, who has terminal cancer, for the best possible quality of life for her for as long as possible; also for her DH and DD as they travel this road with her;

... DizzyDaffodil, who is struggling, asking God to be with her and for her to find RL support at this time;

... DontstepontheMomeRaths, for her busy life as a single mum, and for the wonderful work she does through her church supporting people going through separation and divorce;

... DutchOma, thanking God for the wonderful support that she provides for so many on here;

... FaithLoveandHope, for her mental health; for decisions about her academic work; for her STB-FIL who has been diagnosed with cancer; and for her relationship with her DP;

... fakenamefornow, thanking God that things have taken a turn for the better for her;

... howtoapproachthis, for her health, following her diagnosis with CFS and for her to find support for herself and her DD;

... HydrochloricTulip, for stresses at home and at work;

... innerstrength100, for strength to decide what to do in the aftermath of the break-up of her relationship last year and the unexpected coming back into her life of her ex;

... Kaykat, continuing to pray for her as she goes through the stressful and painful process of divorce; praying, in particular, that she is able to find continue to support her DS through this process;

... LegallyBlonde77, as she goes through the adoption process - praying for a match very soon and for her family to be complete;

... LifeofBriony, for problems in her relationship with her DH;

... littlehouseinthebigwoods, for problems in her relationship with her controlling DH;

... MadHairDay, for her ongoing health issues;

... PositiveAttitude, especially for her mum who has dementia and for her dad, who finds it hard to accept help; for her DD2 recovering from a scary reaction to a dog-bite overseas, and for her whole family; for her studies and her role within her church; and for her and her DH as they plan new and exciting ways of working with the people of Cambodia;

... QuestionofFaith, as she tries to rebuild her life with her DH following his mental health problems and withdrawal from her;

... SESthebrave, for problems at work; also for her MIL who has had a cancer diagnosis;

... TooBusyByHalf, as she explores and hopefully rediscovers her faith;

... weegiemum, for her continued recovery from her very scary infection and septicaemia, and also for her DD's continued progress in overcoming her anorexia;

... ZipadiSoozi, for her dad who has dementia and for her mum and the whole family as they find ways to support him in this; also for her BIL who has cancer;

We pray also for all regular and occasional visitors including: Badvoc, BlessedAssurance, BlueSkies80, CaulkheadUpNorth, CharlotteCollins, chocolateteapot, cloutiedumpling, CocoaBean, DeladionInch, EilisCitron, FlabbyMummy, Gingercurl, JugglingFromHereToThere, ktef, legohurtswhenyoustandonit, LollipopViolet, LostinChilli, MaryBS, MrsPixieMoo, niminypiminy, ninetynineonehundred, PandaG, Pipbin, RoomForALittleOne, ScarletDancer, thegreenheartofmanyroundabouts, weegiemum, WobblyRainbow, Zing and for anyone I've forgotten to name-check (don't take it personally, please!). We pray for our muslim sisters over in the tea-room, at a time when many feel afraid in a world which seems suspicious of their faith, praying for peace and understanding between all faiths. And we pray for those who read and pray but don't post, for those who need our prayers but are afraid or too uncertain to post them, and for all those known to us in our own lives who need God's love.

Keep Your people, Lord,
in the arms of Your embrace.
Shelter them under Your wings.
Be their light in darkness.
Be their hope in distress.
Be their calm in anxiety.
Be strength in their weakness.
Be their comfort in pain.
Be their song in the night. Amen

Thank you so much Tuo I find it a really good way to remember everyone in prayer by reading through your posts and especially on a new thread to remember all those who maybe don't post too often.

Mum had yet another fall today - but instead of calling me dad waited a few minutes for the carer, who then talked him through calling his emergency team, who responded immediately and came to his help. He was impressed with the efficiency and care. I am sad mum fell again, but so pleased that dad saw how things could work well for him. Hopefully he will remember this next time she falls probably within the next 24 hours!

ZipadiSoozi · 19/05/2015 17:08

Continued prayers for your parents PA such a hard situation, glad your dad did the right thing, hope your mum ok and not injured. X

ZipadiSoozi · 19/05/2015 17:10

LifeOfBriony · 19/05/2015 20:54

Thank you Tuo for the useful summary.

Your name should be in there too.

Dutchoma · 19/05/2015 20:58

You are right, LifeofBriony.
Let's give thanks to God for our dear TUO who spends such a lot of energy on keeping the thread going.

Tuo · 19/05/2015 22:00

Aww... thanks all. It's really a pleasure to do it.

Prayers for all tonight. Have found a new prayer website (this one's courtesy of the Methodist Church). Here's today's offering, a prayer of Mechtild of Magdeburg (1210-1280)

Bind our souls to your own, O Christ, so that we may never be separated from you. Only in you are we fully alive. Only in your light can we truly see and only in your strength can we safely pursue our way. To you we come, O wisdom without end. In you we rest, O mercy without limit. Amen.

That's a very beautiful prayer, TUO. Well done the Methodists Grin. Praying for restful sleep for all, whatever our circumstances. And, as I used to say to the children: "If you can't sleep, REST'

BlackeyedSusan · 19/05/2015 23:16

oi, soozi! where that mouse? and can I get down off this sodding bench yet? do you need prayer for mouse catching?

HardyLaodicean · 20/05/2015 00:52

Hello , I am back after a long absence, but I am so happy to see that this thread continues. It, and particularly Dutchoma, gave me some huge support when it was needed.

My background is Methodist but a good friend of mind is Catholic and she showed me this which I would like to post for all going through a hard time

O Lord, we call upon You in our time of sorrow,
That You give us the strength and will to bear our heavy
burdens, until we can again feel the warmth and love of
Your divine compassion. Be mindful of us and have mercy
on us while we struggle to comprehend life's hardships.

Keep us ever in Your watch, til we can walk again with
light hearts and renewed spirits.

I went through a hard time which, as I say, people on this thread helped me with. Life is never entirely a breeze but things are better for me now. I pray for all of you going through a hard time (which take many forms I know but I hope you know what I mean.) (hope that's not too much given I've only just come back.)
If anyone can spare a prayer for my son who is doing exams and finding it more stressful and harder than he thought then that would be lovely.

Otherwise, where I am today, the weather was a curious mixture of sunshine and showers (could that be a metaphor - much Smile )

HL

Can I add a prayer request please? Just found out my DSis is going to need a kidney transplant in the next couple of years. She's early twenties & we've known this was a possibility since she was tiny but it's still a shock for it to be made "real" all of a sudden! I think we're all just in shock right now & have lots of questions but need to wait for her next appt to get any answers.

I completely believe in miraculous healing & obviously that's what I'd like to happen here... failing that, that one of the family will be a donor match. I've always been adamant that I'd be first in line to get tested... then I googled what the scars might look like & completely freaked myself out! Blush Obviously I'd still do it... Just wouldn't be able to look at myself naked until the wounds had fully healed!

DSis hasn't reacted well to the news. Last I heard she'd shut herself away & was refusing to speak to anyone. Perfectly natural reaction to such devastating news but please do pray that she will recover from the initial shock quickly & be able to think pragmatically in time for her next appt so she can ask the questions she needs to. Last time she had bad news which was nothing quite on this scale she hardly ate for days & cried the whole time. It was awful & I'd give anything to be able to stop her feeling like that again! Sad

AutumnFades · 20/05/2015 01:56

Praying Barbara, what a horrible shock for you all.

TooBusyByHalf · 20/05/2015 06:56

Anjelica27 · 20/05/2015 10:54

My thanks too Tuo.

Praying this morning that ds will go to his first appointment today and will be open to what they say. Please think of him.

Will be back later and let you know x

Will catch up and pray for everyone here.

Have infection and pleurisy. Supposed to off camping on Saturday. Worried we can't go :(

Sorry for being quiet. Just about getting through the days. love to all of you.

BlackeyedSusan · 20/05/2015 11:07

oh MHD. it is shit enough having a bog standard cold and cough... poor you, so much worse.

get well soon lovely.

prayers.

I am off to start tackling the childrens room. It may take a while as I am slow with my darthvader breathing and barking like a seal.

BlackeyedSusan · 20/05/2015 11:31

oh my goodness. there is stuff all over the floor. I have come out to breathe and think what the heck do I do next. (put some of the phonics books in a bag ready to go in the loft.) I need to clean up there so I can put the clean washing away, but can not clean out the room until I have done about 5 loads of washing of scattered clothes, blankets and bedding and fifty million cuddly toys but can not do the washing until I have put the clean washing away...

funnily enough now I am down I can see a bit clearer. going to get the vaccum and start with dd's bed.
