Hedrin is looking for around 250 MNers who have who have someone in their family who currently has head lice to try out their Spray Gel and to report back on MN. All selected testers who add their feedback will be entered into a prize draw to win £200 John Lewis voucher.

Hedrin say "Head lice remedies have traditionally required a second application to kill lice that have hatched since the original treatment - where they were protected in the egg. Hedrin Once Spray Gel has been shown, in a clinical trial, to eradicate the infestation of live lice and the un-hatched eggs with a single application. This removes the need for repeat treatments and laborious combing, making the process of managing head lice easier than ever before.

"Hedrin Once Spray Gel is a silicone-based, skin-friendly non-pesticide formula that is pleasant for children and easy for parents to use. The active ingredient, dimeticone, kills lice by blocking the opening to their air tubes and disrupting their ability to manage water. Its physical method of killing head lice prevents them developing a resistance – a common problem with traditional pesticide treatments. Available in Boots and pharmacies nationwide, Hedrin Once is available in a spray gel format priced from £7.14 for 60ml".

Visit //www.hedrin.co.uk for further information.

Note: You should only use this is you have definitely got a live head louse. Please read the instructions carefully.

Hedrin Once is suitable for adults and children over 6 months of age. We are looking for Mumsnetters who have head lice themselves, or who’s LO currently have head lice.

If you're selected you will be sent a 60ml bottle - you'd need to spray sufficient gel evenly over dry hair, to ensure that the scalp and hair are fully covered and the hair is saturated - RRP £7.14. You can elect to receive 2 bottles per household if more than one person is affected or if you think you'd need 2 bottles to treat one person (eg long hair)

Hedrin Once is "specially formulated with non-volatile ingredients and clinically proven to kill head lice in one go. It should be left on the hair for at least 15 minutes (or longer if more convenient).

To remove, apply shampoo directly to the entire surface of dry hair without first wetting it, shampoo thoroughly then rinse with water. Repeat the process, then apply conditioner, rinse and dry. Hedrin Once contains anti-foaming ingredients so the shampoo will not lather readily. If necessary, repeat the whole procedure remembering to apply shampoo directly to dry hair".

We intend to recruit daily to ship out the products to you as soon as possible so that you can test it out while you still have a use for it!

We'd like you to try it at home with your infested child/ family member and to then give feedback on a thread on MN and also to complete a short survey giving your overall opinion of the product.

Everyone who adds their feedback as required will be entered into a prize draw where on tester will win a £200 John Lewis voucher.

To sign up please complete this add your details on this link

We will email you confirmation.

Thanks,
MNHQ

Ooh Madthing5 has had a few. Have been wet combing with nitty gritty but happy to try this.

I've already tried this, and can't praise Hedrin enough. (If you look on the headlice threads here you will see this is true!) I've never had to do a second go-around.

Tip for anyone trying this out - when it's time to wash the Hedrin off, DON'T get your head wet, but put the shampoo straight onto the Hedrin-covered hair and work it in before adding water. You will need a few goes around with the shampoo, but it's worth it.

We seem to get the nits in your class note every week I think our school (800+ kids) needs a Hedrin roadshow to eliminate the little critters once and for all!

No headlice here but on the topic of annoying childhood inflictions,
I'd like Hedrin to bring something out for bloody fecking WORMS please, DD gets them every time she plays with her friend x. I suspect x's mum says the same about my DD and we need to treat them both at the same time but I don't know her well enough... I wish I had shares in Ovex.

Ds had headlice for the first time recently. Nitty Gritty comb got all of the eggs out - no chemicals needed.

Sunnyshine · 24/03/2015 19:43

Had pretty much repeatedly for last month! Get the hair clean to brush out nothing, do again 3 days later and back again! Think dd has a nitty friend who is not getting treated Hmm

Not needed (yet) but have used this product on my dd who they seem to have a magnetic attraction too. This product worked the 1st time & haven't had any issues since. Can't recommend it enough!!

Yes! Mine have been lucky until 3 days ago when I realised they both had beautiful infestations on the go.

Been doing condition and comb every night but we're certainly still in the thick of it and happy to have a crack with this stuff.

Oh yes please. DD2's hair is so curly and thick, using the nitty gritty is an utter nightmare. Would love to try this.

Yes please. Been combing for 3 weeks solid now! Two kids = hours wasted. Please help me.

Is anybody else itching reading this?! And more so at the thought of having to wait until you've been selected and the products been sent out!
Not tried the spray version myself but must admit Hedrin is always my first choice when we have 'cheeky head visitors'.

Finbar · 24/03/2015 22:43

Yes please. Am too embarrassed to tell you for how long my child has had them. We've tried so many things - even the 'Listerine ' cure to no avail.
Very happy to be a tester and feedbacker.

PLEASE Would live to try this, two dds with long hair, constantly on the go with the nitty gritty comb as other formulas just don't seem to work!

My daughter has a stubborn case of head lice. In her 9 years she has never had it till now. We've tried everything, if this really works would be willing to give it a go.

We tried this the other day after months of combing had failed to get rid of the buggers. It worked brilliantly. Absolutely delighted with it.

Report
BillStickersIsInnocent · 25/03/2015 06:20

We tried this about a month ago when all else had failed and it's brilliant - we are lice free (somewhat unfortunately as £200 would come in handy!)

It is a bit of a pain to get out if you don't follow the instructions and also I think it prevented hair dye from taking properly in the few days after use. But little things compared to being lice free after months of nightly conditioner combing, tea tree etc.

Anything that can help is welcome here - I've had to cut my daughters beautiful long hair to try and make it easier to get rid of the headlice once and for all but the children and staff at dd's playgroup have their hair down and don't seem to care despite the warnings!

PeaceOfWildThings · 25/03/2015 08:32

I don't have headlice currently, but I swear by Hedrin. Thanks for the reminder to use the protective spray...teenagers can get headlice too and it's a bugger to get them out of long hair!

Received my spray bottles today, thanks Hedrin! Looking forward to giving this a go...anything to avoid combing and combing and combing!

Question though...do the eggs just wash out or should I give her hair one last comb after treatment?

Report
Madeyemoodysmum · 25/03/2015 18:51

Anyone heard if they are accepted on this yet?

Report
Bogeyface · 25/03/2015 19:14

The eggs will still stick to the hair, the last time DD had them I got rid of the lice fairly quickly, took weeks to comb the bloody eggs out......
