i am vaguely intrigued by these as identified in teh times
"Discarded notes are rubbish to most people, but not for worldwide subscribers to Found, which reprints them. The magazine’s publisher, Davy Rothbart, gets bundles sent to his office in Michigan. Laura Kwerel, a radio producer in Washington, was “overwhelmed” after reading one issue. “I realise now,” she says, “that there is more humanity in a discarded grocery list than in a thousand-page novel.” Some people need to get out more. Someone has published a book with found lists and notes in, I saw it the other day.

I found one in Waitrose last week and read it, it made me think of Cod.

I put it back in case the person returned for it.

They needed lots of things from the healthfood shop inc

extra strength cod liver oil

but had really old persons hand writing so couldn't make out that much.

i stuffed this in my pocket today with all the manner of an expert realising they have panned gold and got away with it. dd2 looked, opened mouth to comment, thought the better of it. she, mother, was not to be messed with. have got throught tonight with the satisfying thought of the gold in them thar pockets.

here goes.

square roughly 6X6 cm piece of white paper (NOT post it) very crumpled. handwriting gives impression of being very hurried so am willing to forgive spelling and put down to pressure. list as follows,

milk roses House

Bread

weetabix

WAshing tabs , dishwasher
tabs , oxy clean.

olive all

chicun stock clues

cuticle remover

Nothing left to say except that I can now die happy having genuine contribution to this thread. Oh and somerfield, glasgow, thanks.

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o
For a wink, , type [wink]
For a shocked face, , type [shock]
For an angry face, , type [angry]
For an embarrassed face, , type [blush]
For a sad face, , type [sad] or :(
For an envious face, , type [envy]

For a no comment face, , type [biscuit]

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
