The antenatal group is nearly full, any graduates fancy joining forces to compare

Marking my spot peeling!! I think we have come across each other on other threads!

This is a really good idea, as a new mum to 4 wk old twins, I know I need lots if help and chocolate moral support! How old are your twins?

Smile
mummypigof3 · 09/03/2012 04:05

Me too! 7 week old DTs and 2 yr old DD. not had more than 4hrs continuous sleep in months. Been reading ALL the tips in Multiples. I need all the help I can get Smile.

claireinmodena · 09/03/2012 04:15

Hi mummypig, forgot to say, I also have dd1 (10) and dd2 (7)

claireinmodena · 09/03/2012 04:34

And glad to see I'm not the only one in MN at this ungdly hour

mummypigof3 · 09/03/2012 06:58

Hi Claire! Yep- I was doing the night feed and already up now doing the morning feed. It's non stop! Is it easier with your DCs being a bit older? My toddler has just about come round to accepting the DTs. Initially she kept dragging the Moses basket across to me and screaming "Put IT down mummy" every time I held a crying baby!

claireinmodena · 09/03/2012 08:07

So was I... One of the many feeds Sad I dont know how I copes qith night feeds wirh dd1&2 without smarrphones lol!

I have to say it is a lot easier with older children, not only they do not need help with getting dressed, eating etc, but they help loads, with minor housework (reluctantly) and the dts. Dd1 especially can hold them and even feed one a bottle if I am bfeeding the other.
I do have to be caredul though not to overdo it as it is easy to forget they are just children still. Especially with dd2 who i think feels a bit pushed out at the monent.

Your toddlers comment made laugh, very cute!

PeelingmyselfofftheCeiling · 09/03/2012 12:01

Yay!
Mine are boy/girl twins turning 6 months next week - where dis that time go?! But they were 2 months prem so still diddy.

This week they've been variously learning to roll, sleeping brilliantly one day and not at all the next, and possibly teething (altho my baby book says red cheeks and drool at 4 months is not teething, but doesn't say what it is!).
Next in the agenda: solids, eek!

Marking really quickly as I've got crappy signal and lost my lovely long post. Loving the thread, definitely nice to have twin mummy friends to talk to!! X

PeelingmyselfofftheCeiling · 09/03/2012 13:13

Hey BB3
how's it going?

Were you BrassicaBabe, or is she still around somewhere? Remember her from the Viriods thread and then twin antenatal (I think, unless I'm confused. Swear they took half my brain out with the Dts!)

OP posts:
BB3 · 09/03/2012 17:15

Nope not me x how are the dts? I was just after you on 20/9 and I can't believe the girls are coming up to 6 months soon. It just seems completely crazy. They too have bright red cheeks and drooling like
St bernards Grin and I thought it was teeth but maybe not! Ayse-rose manages to get across the floor when led on her back by half turning and shuffling with her legs - I'm officially scared of crawling! Grin

twinnies26 · 09/03/2012 20:02

I'll join you ladies!... i know noone else with twins except for one girl i met in NICU and no twin club near my house :( My ID Dt's are also almost 6 months too (adjusted age 4 1/2 months).... we're going to be starting solids soon too- Think of the mess we will all have on our hands! :O

BB3 · 09/03/2012 20:13

Grin twinnies, I know! Can you just imagine it! Blimey, I'm so looking forward to them being bigger and a tad more independent but at the same time I'm so nervous about these milestones coming up too!!! Did you have dd's or ds's?

twinnies26 · 09/03/2012 20:33

Me too! I just went and bought weaning spoons, bowls and containers to start freezing food once we get going!.... can't believe they're growing up so fast!.....although i must admit i'm delighted the first few months have passed now, it was tough going at the start!

I have dd's! One is a little angel and sleeps every night, the other is the complete opposite and doesn't sleep that much Hmm

ceeveebee · 09/03/2012 20:37

Can I join? I have boy/girl twins just about to turn 16 weeks (no other DCs though so sounds like I have it a bit easier than you lot!)

BB3 · 09/03/2012 20:47

Hi ceevee! I have 5.5 month old girls and a 2 year old ds - but I think twins, regardless of other children, are definitely harder than you expect them to be! Dh (who may just be suicidal) is already talking about more Confused

Twinnies! Snap! Ayse-Roselp still wakes up at 10, 1, 3.30 5 and 8 whereas Edith-May will sleep from 7-5 and then come in bed for a snuggle until 6.30 ish. They are getting better I have to say, they'll go down in the day time nicely now whereas for a long time they would only sleep in people's arms Hmm I dug all ds' old weaning stuff out last week and tried the girls on a tiny bit of baby rice last week just to see how they took to it and Edie refused to open her mouth Grin so they are definitely not ready yet! Oh well, I'm in no rush!

twinnies26 · 09/03/2012 21:07

BB3 love the girls names, really lovely :) Ayse-Roselp wakes abit more than dt2 but some nights we're not far off! Im also like you i wake up every morning with a baby on my chest! Are you bf them? I'm combine feeding now...Sometimes i think that's why dt2 wakes all the time as she is looking for comfort from my boobs and/or just hungry. Perhaps once they start some food it will help her sleep, we'll see what happens next week with the baby rice!

Lots of respect to you all with other DCs -
You must all be supermums! :)

ceeveebee · 09/03/2012 21:11

BB3, you're right about the hard work! Both of mine have colds at the moment and I am coming down with it too so not feeling great today. We were supposed to go to swimmimg lessons with DH tomorrow, boohoo Sad

BB3 · 09/03/2012 21:30

Thanks twinnies - Ayse-Rose (not sure where I got Roselp from in my first post - I blame by iPhone) definitely is comfort, she hardly feeds for 30 seconds during the night then is cuddled in asleep again! I'm bfing yes although in the past month have introduced formula more regularly during the day so more mix feeding now probably 60-40 bf -ff as the 4/5 month growth spurt was really difficult!

Oh ceevee I feel for you, we had it in January & February with both ds and Edie ending up with bronchitis! Was horrible having all the kids sick especially when you feel so crap yourself! Drink lots of tea and eat lots of chocolate to get you through it! Xx

PeelingmyselfofftheCeiling · 09/03/2012 22:01

Wow, so many close on age. Think I might have a crack at solids for the first time this weekend, not sure I'll be as relaxed as you second-timers though, oddly nervous!

WeddingGirl · 10/03/2012 00:21

Hi, can I join in too? Just up for the first feed of the night. I've got a 2 yr old DD, and 5.5 mth ID twin girls. Just decided to start weaning last week to see of it improved their sleep, but so far no better! They tend to wake at about midnight and 5am (I always wake the other to feed aswell). And DH thinks they should be sleeping through now! Glad (??!!) to see its not just us having not much sleep!) :)

twinnies26 · 10/03/2012 08:07

BB3 i'm like you but about 50/50 now with the combine feeding, their last growth spurt nearly pushed me over the edge and i swore i was stopping....yet i'm still going! i don't know what i would do when they wake at night if i let my milk go to be honest.

Peeling we have decided to get some baby rice today after last night. I was up with dt2 five times, of course dt1 slept all night as usual. Dt2 was starving the poor thing!

I think all our babies are all within a month of each other!! :)

Ceevee hope you are all not feeling too bad. Tell us how the swimming went if you go....i'm dying to go but not got around to it yet. DH likes to cycle on Sunday mornings and i work on Saturdays so it's hard for us at weekend, and during the week i'm alone with them.... are people allowed to go with a 2:1 child/parent ratio??

BB3 · 10/03/2012 09:07

Hi wedding!

Twinnies yes we are all very close and Claire is only a short while behind with her lo's, there is a couple from the antenatal thread that I imagine will be along very soon too!

I keep saying I've had enough and stopping bf but I'm still doing it too and probably will until they sleep through more regularly x

So how was everyone's births? I love a good birth story! Wink The girls were born by emergency section at 37 weeks. I was always going to have to have a section because of placenta previa but Edie decided to try and make a quick exit a week early! All in all it was a good birth, and I was out the next day with the girls. Ayse-Rose took a while to pink up at first and needed a tiny bit of help but she was soon screaming away! She also had a slight murmur and an umbilical hernia but both are completely resolved now Grin

Edie is currently obsessed with her toys and will play with them for ages in her hands (although gets a bit frustrated if they fall out of her vice-like grip!) Grin and all Ayse wants to do is shuffle around the floor, they have such different personalities already x

BB3 · 10/03/2012 09:08

Oh wedding don't me started in dh's views who as soon as they cry in the night assumes they're hungry even if they've only been fed 5 minutes before!!! HmmConfused
