Hi

All the existing clubs seem to be full so a couple of us would like to start a new one. I'm happy to coordinate if no one else wants to.

I'm just past the no sleep newborn stage with dd and am looking for some inspiration to get reading again :-)

Please post if you are interested and we can start a list.

I would like to join. How does it work?

AlwaysRocking Tue 06-Sep-11 20:54:31

I think I've figured out how it works from the other threads...

We need 12 people then we each choose a book (making sure it's one no one else has read) and post it on to the next person on the list, and they get passed on each month.

Once we get a few swaps in several people will have read each book so the discussion can get going too!

Sounds easy enough smile what sort of things do you normally like to read?

AlwaysRocking Tue 06-Sep-11 21:30:06

I like to try a read a mix of things, which is why I like the sound of a book swap. The last books I really enjoyed before I had dd were One Day and The Island. what sort of books do you like?

beatofthedrum Tue 06-Sep-11 21:58:11

Count me in please!

tunise Tue 06-Sep-11 22:14:42

Can I join please? Have a overflowing bookcase and a love of reading. Adored One Day and also Starter for ten, I did like The Island but couldn't get into her next one at all? (cant remember what it was called) Most recently read The other Boleyn girl and the Boleyn inheritance which I really enjoyed but now did to decide on the next one!

Fantastic, looks like we're going to get a group. Hope Vera sees this, she'd started the other thread about joining.

Ill pm Vera later to make sure she gets a place if she wants it smile

GrandmaW Thu 08-Sep-11 12:23:41

I'd like to join too, please. Was hoping to join one a couple of months ago but that seems to have fizzled out.

Crystalmom Thu 08-Sep-11 19:03:31

I'd like to join in please smile Sounds Good to me...I have lots of books!

AlwaysRocking Thu 08-Sep-11 20:10:02

That's 8 people now! smile

If people want to pm me their address I can get a list drawn up ready for the first swap. Unless someone else want to do this? I can get carried away with organising blush

beatofthedrum Thu 08-Sep-11 21:23:51

I would be very grateful if you were happy to organise smile, thank you. Could you run through the rules for us too? Just to check we all have the same idea of what the book swap group does.

Have you lot read Anita Shreve 'High Altitude'? Really enjoyed that and would be good to discuss.

yummytummy Sat 10-Sep-11 19:06:51

hiya, would love to join if i may? tried the other clubs but they were all full. def count me in if theres room for one more!

not read 'high altitude' but read 'light on snow' of hers which i enjoyed. also loved 'the help' by kathryn stockett.

AlwaysRocking Sat 10-Sep-11 20:17:53

Hi yummytummy, we still have space. Can you pm me your address so I can add you to the list?

I haven't read any Anita Shreve so sounds like a good suggestion to me!

tunise Sat 10-Sep-11 21:48:06

Hi all, found it hard to just choose one book to suggest!
So my first choice is The Hours by Micheal Cunningham, I really liked the film of it with Julianne Moore/Nicole Kidman in and thought the book (as usually is the case) was even better. But if other people have read it I have plenty of back up choices!smile
The Anita Shreve book sounds good, have also read the light on snow which was good but not really read any of her other stuff.
