Am I having a miscarriage

I need some help. I'm 7 weeks pregnant and just been standing in the kitchen when felt something come out and pool into my knickers. Felt down and there was lots of fresh blood. I've been sat on the toilet and felt a clot come out. Not sure how big it came out quite easily. I have no pain. I'm so scared and upset I'm just sitting here on the toilet. Is there any hope? Sad

Oh bless you, get an urgent gp appointment and ask them to refer you to your epau clinic. Hope all is ok xx

Thank you for your reply. I'm not really bleeding anymore. Do I just presume that's it? The baby has gone? How do you know it's not just a blood clot? I've called my doctors and they have said as I have no pain and little bleeding to presume miscarriage and no need to refer me. If bleeding gets bad again to go to A&E. Is that really it?

Sorry you are going through this, and your doctors response seems crazy, I had a MMC, should have been 10 weeks but had medication to pass the baby and it was only measuring 6 weeks. At that size it was still an incredibly painful process so I would be surprised if you had fully miscarried in this way. I think I would go to A&E and they will refer you to the EPU for a scan.

It might not be, there's always hope. I'd go to A&E. Lots of people have bleeding in early pregnancy with no obvious cause. The fact that you've had no pain is a good sign. Keeping everything crossed for you

Exactly what lola said. Get yourself to a & e if you can and they'll likely scan you. Really hope all is well for you.

It may not be a miscarriage. I had bleeding around 6-7 weeks with both of my pregnancies, quite heavily the second time, and both little ones are all good.

If you're correct about dates and have had no pain it may well be implantation bleeding.

Head to A&E and they can refer you to an early pregnancy unit for a scan. I had that for both bleeds I had and felt very reassured by the early scans.

Good luck xxx

Oh your posts have made me cry with hope that it's not all over. I didn't really want to sit in A&E tonight for hours on end as the bleeding has stopped and was only told to go if very heavy bleeding and pain. How will I know if it was my baby I passed or just a clot? I've tried all afternoon to self refer to the epau and they won't see me without a medical practitioners referal. I was thinking of making an appointment with the doctor in the morning and see what they say? Surely the fact I have no pain could be a good thing. I'm so dizzy and despite the heatwave I'm freezing cold.

I'm also rhesus negative blood type. Do I need the anti-d injection? I presume if this baby was/is rhesus positive then I would?

Sorry I'm not sure, I think you do but as far as I know it's when you're further along? You'd be better asking in the pregnancy section. I'm positive so never had to have it. I'd definitely make an appointment and go to see the doctor in the morning if I were you, insist on a referral x

Yes, you will. The GP are not being very supportive. I would ask to speak to a female doctor as you might get a better response? Sorry you are going through this.

I didn't get the anti d after I miscarried at 11 weeks, I specifically asked and was told it wasn't necessary at that stage.

I had a full 10 day 'period' with my current pregnancy at what I now know would have been 4 weeks pregnant. Things are still all good now, very glad I didn't know I was pregnant at the time!

You definitely need to get this checked out. However I wouldn't give up and think it's all over yet hun. It still sounds hopeful to me. I miscarried on Monday but I had been bleeding heavily with clots and severe pain....worse than labour pains....since Friday. Only a scan will confirm. They can check your cervix at epu and see if it's still closed also. You only get anti Day after 12 weeks. I was 9 weeks so that's what I was told. Good luck hun hope all is OK x

That was meant to be anti D

Thank you everyone. I still have no bleeding since yesterday lunch time. I'm preparing for the worst. I can't imagine that much blood and the large clot that I passed wouldn't be related to the baby. I'm calling the doctors at 8 and will insist on an EPAU referal. Although the doctor I spoke to yesterday (female by the way) told me it would probably be. 2-3 day wait. Sad

Thanks Kaz for the anti D information. It's good to know. I don't know if I can wait so long to find out for definite what's happening. I feel so sad.

Best bet is to go to A&E, yes the wait is a nightmare but they will refer you to the EPU.
Good luck! I hope all is well today 🙂

A&E even if I'm not bleeding?

Like lotti said yes a&e even if bleeding stopped as it's the only way they listen! I went to A&E Sunday and Monday and sent home both days but epu did check me over on the Monday. Then I went in via ambulance early hours Tuesday morning when it became really severe and they finally kept me in and scanned me Tuesday morning. Keep hope hun Coz it's good that you have now stopped bleeding as I haven't stopped bleeding since Friday. It'll be a long wait but you have to go as it's the only way they take you seriously. Also once referred to epu I was told there was an open door to come back anytime. Good luck x

Sorry for what you are going through. I wouldn't go to A&E when you are not bleeding and not in pain. I would go back to GP and request a referral to an EPU, even if there is a 2-3 day wait.

I am normally doom and gloom
about these things (have had 4 miscarriages) but have never had one like you describe so doesn't sound like it's definitely over to me.

My first MC I had sudden gushing blood but when scanned was told this was due to a haematoma and the baby was ok which it was there were other problems later that caused the MC. I take it you didn't see the clot that was passed to have a sense of it may have been the sac or not?

So, fingers crossed things may be ok. Lots of people do have bleeding in early pregnancy and it be alright.

Thanks all. I'm calling the doctors in 10 mins. If I can't get an appointment within the next hour I will go to A&E.

It's the not knowing. I can't deal with this as a miscarriage until I know for sure. I just need the answer and can't believe it's so hard for someone to see me.

I've had 2 miscarriages without pain (passed them myself) so i know you don't necessarily have to be in pain. The first time i passed 2 big pieces of tissue but that was days into the bleeding and i was 10 weeks.
