Good Morning Campers !SmileFlowers @FinallyHere will be along shortly with the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness but I know we've already had a lot of success, both on the scales and NSVs.

In the meantime, here is the link to the "Master" recipe thread to provide inspiration for all the lovely food you can make on this WoE.

Links to the Boot Camp Low Carb Recipe threads http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/lowcarbb_bootcamp/4676617-links-to-the-boot-camp-low-carb-recipe-threads

We're into the final fortnight but we'll still be around afterwards for support or to continue following the Rules Smile If you've only just started, there is still time to lose up to half a stone before Christmas Xmas Grin That's still my objective Xmas Wink

I'm getting my flu and Covid vaccinations this morning - no #vaccake for me but I'll come hone and have a cup of coffee from our new bean to cup machine Grin

Morning!

Very slight loss, but a loss nevertheless :) I weighed myself after drinking a pint of water.... should have weighed before Grin

Koko.

Good Morning lovely @prettybird & thank you for opening up the shutters again for week 7

Spreadsheet of Fabulousness here for those who like to track their weight #nopressure

FinallyHere · 28/11/2022 08:24

Hope your jabs all go smoothly.

I have a bad case of bean to cup coffee machine envy :-)

BIWI · 28/11/2022 08:34

Morning all!

@ditavonteesed I get my sodastream canisters from Sainsbury's - although Lakeland and Robert Dyas also have them. But you can join sodastream's online exchange scheme too see here

prettybird · 28/11/2022 08:36

Getting round to booking our jags was one of the "Acts of Self Care" inspired by this thread Halo

Just perusing the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness - and massive bunches of Flowers for @RuLu and @skiphopbump who have exceeded the stone mark (and @ZiggZagg who is almost there too Smile)

Great going. Or losing, I should say!

prettybird · 28/11/2022 09:27

Jags done. Just waiting to be allowed to leave as dh is driving Smile

Skiphopbump · 28/11/2022 09:59

Thanks @prettybird , @FinallyHere and @BIWI and also everyone who has posted in the threads - really keeps the motivation going!

I’ve lost 3 lbs this week, the loss was a lb greater tester but I’m still really pleased. I’ve met my bootcamp target of being under 250lbs which is so motivating!
It’s making me think more carefully about the holiday period as I don’t want to undo all my hard work and start the next bootcamp over 250lbs.

debka · 28/11/2022 10:14

Morning all!

2lb off this week- total of 15lb so far! I'm super pleased with that, it's so rewarding seeing the scales move and the clothes get looser! I'm really proud of myself for sticking with it so consistently too.

I love all the self care talk, it is SO important. Thanks to those who have taken the time to remind me personally. This year has been a whirlwind of increased personal and professional responsibility and pressure, and more than ever I need to look after myself.

My act of self care this week is to look out a support group for parents of autistic teens. My 13 year old is not having an easy time and I carry SUCH anxiety over them. I need to learn how to put the worry and emotion down, and talking things through always really helps me.

It's my birthday this weekend too and we had planned a trip to London for a show and dinner. Right now I just feel like climbing under the covers and hiding from the world but I think getting out and doing something fun would do me more good.

pinknsparkly · 28/11/2022 10:16

Good luck with your jabs today @prettybird

And congratulations @Skiphopbump - that's an incredible achievement!

I forgot to weigh in this morning but my previously too tight jeans are now very comfortable and my comfortable jeans are getting a bit saggy! Problem is that I hate shopping so this isn't necessarily all a good thing for me 😂

venusandmars · 28/11/2022 10:37

We had roast chicken for dinner yesterday. In the evening I took all the meat off the carcass (and the skin to crisp up in the oven) and put the bones and veg and juices and fat into the slow cooker. Put it in the fridge. First thing this morning dh put the slow cooker on. I know I could have done it overnight but I find the smell of soup in the middle of the night makes me far too hungry and has me snacking at 4am!

Lots of chicken based meals this week.

prettybird · 28/11/2022 10:40

Already some great achievements and NSVs Flowers

I hope any lurkers are inspired too Smile

BIWI · 28/11/2022 10:42

Brilliant @debka!

Sunsnowsun · 28/11/2022 10:47

Morning all I’m not weighing until tomorrow, but we’ll done on all the losses.
@ditavonteesed I use the sodastream club one and find it works really well. We get through a lot of water here.

prettybird · 28/11/2022 10:48

My act of self care for the day was going to the pharmacy (after getting our jags) and asking for advice: the last two mornings I've woken up with a really grungy eye and it's been bloodshot (fortunately not the eye that I wear my contact lens Wink I use the "mono vision" technique: one eye to see distance, with the contact lens and the other eye to read).

Within 5 minutes I had antibiotic eye drops - and didn't have to pay anything. It's a good example of why free prescriptions actually save money in the bigger picture as I didn't have to go and see the GP (and by the time I'd seen the GP, it might have spread to the other eye and/or got more serious) and wasn't put off by the potential cost.

OP posts:
Skiphopbump · 28/11/2022 10:57

@prettybird you were lucky to get antibiotics so easily and without a GO appointment.

DD has had the reverse issue as she obviously needed antibiotics but couldn’t get them prescribed. She spoke to three GPs (all telephone appointments) as she has a chest infection. The third finally gave her a prescription but it was for ventolin. DD doesn’t have asthma and ended up with tachycardia from the inhaler and an even worse chest infection so ended up in A&E on IV antibiotics and has two different oral antibiotics to take. Had one of the GPs seen her in person she wouldn’t have become so unwell and used so many resources.

Skiphopbump · 28/11/2022 10:58

That was a bit of a rant but it was a stressful Saturday night especially as DD is away at university.

ditavonteesed · 28/11/2022 11:10

1lb on for me which I will accept a last weeks weigh in was straight after a 36 hour fast.
The mission is not to put anything on over the next couple of weeks as I now have 6 social events coming up.
My trousers are also getting a little loose. This is not good as I bought all new clothes last year and can't afford to do it again, belts will be my friend.
Blimey @Skiphopbump that sounds awful, well done to your dd for knowing what to do, I can't imagine my dds would have a clue.
@debka I hope you find some support, wwe are just coming out of the other side (I hope) dd is 19 now, I never got any support and struggled a lot at various times, she just started uni and they seem to be brilliant with support for he which is great. She's stayed at home a she didn't feel ready to leave. She also has a bar job. I'm so proud.
My acct of self care today is that I bought some enormous fluffy socks, it makes me so miserable when my feet are cold and hurt.

prettybird · 28/11/2022 11:11

That must have been so stressful for you @Skiphopbump Sad You're absolutely right about early intervention actually using fewer resources Confused

I very rarely have antibiotics and they did have a proper consultation with me beforehand, as well as accessing my NHS records (so they'd have seen how rarely I have them Wink).

OP posts:
prettybird · 28/11/2022 11:12

I meant stressful for your dd. Blush

Lucienandjean · 28/11/2022 12:03

Well done to everyone with great losses this week. I've only lost a teeny bit this time, but I'd seen a bigger loss part way through the week!

I suspect I had a bit of a carby Saturday as I went to a wedding. I tried to stick to low carb food but it's hard when you don't know exactly what is in the dishes.

Skiphopbump · 28/11/2022 12:13

@prettybird i think DD was mostly relieved to be properly listened too. She was spending the weekend with her two best friends from home and the hospital let them stay with her so she was in good company.

Oneborneverydecade · 28/11/2022 15:15

Hello all apologies for not rtft (let alone the whole bootcamp) I'm off the wagon but not lost forever

I just wondered whether anyone had an positive results of using low carb to ease peri menopause symptoms?

xx

NotDonna · 28/11/2022 16:05

@Oneborneverydecade I’ve only been low car I h a few weeks and then making rookie errors so not sure. However I quit alcohol for 12 months last year and that massively reduced symptoms especially early waking!!

Oneborneverydecade · 28/11/2022 16:17

@NotDonna thanks for your reply 🤗I rarely drink so I don't think that would help unfortunately - I'm glad it helped you though.
I'm 45 next month and suddenly seem to be sleeping less well and feeling increasingly anxious
