How often do you:

Change the sheets?
Wash the towels?
Hoover?
Clean the loo?
Mop the floor?

TIA!

Change the sheets? weekly (more for dd2 who still wets the bed sometimes)
Wash the towels? weekly, they get put into the washing bin in the bathroom, and I do 2 huge loads)
Hoover? once a week (only have carpet upstairs)
Clean the loo? daily
Mop the floor? every 2-3 days

Change the sheets once a week but more if they need it (wee, puke wtc )

Wash towels constantly , I am sick of the sight of the damn things - every time they are used (bath towels) and I don't know how often for hand towels really, I replace them pretty often

Hoover at least once a day downstairs and about once every two weeks upstairs

Clean the loo three or four times a week, but clean seat/rim more often

Don't mop floor as kitchen-dining room is carpeted (don't blame me - was carpeted when we moved in, we are saving up for laminate flooring)

Do I win? Do I ming?

I am not answering this as I may incriminate myself

Change the sheets? varies, ds1 has a sleeping bag as hates sheets; otherwise weekly I suppose
Wash the towels? daily
Hoover? daily, but due more to three messy boys than tidiness- rarely before kids
Clean the loo? daily, and have a loo block (although won't replace when it runs out as trying to be more eco minded)
Mop the floor? daily, often more, but DS1 has co-ordination problems and spills everything.

Change sheets: every couple of weeks [ahem]

Wash towels: our bath towels once a week, hand and tea towels a couple of times a week, ds's bath towel after every bath

No hoover as we have parquet and tiles (and horrible lino in the kitchen), but we swiff/wash the floors every couple of days (except the bedroom which is done once or twice a week)

Loo is cleaned once a week with the bathroom - brush used as necessary, of course. Plus we use blue disinfectant flush tablets in the cistern (no doubt environmentally disastrous ). We are a strictly sit-down-to-pee household.

Floors - see no 3.

Thanks everyone!

Once a week seems to be a general average...I could never wash the towels every day though.

You know though, in order yto be fair to FIT and others you need to know the situations- eg I have 3 kids, one with SN and another being toilet trained. So I HAVE to do it that often. now, clothes when washed usually never see the wardrobe they just go back out again and my shelves should get a mdern award, they're that messy.

Thanks again everyone.

Just wanted to say, that I certainly am not going to judge anyone!!! I just wanted to know what other people do (don't have many female friends round here to ask).

Just so you know, I try to change sheets and towels once a week, but it gets done less in the Winter when everything takes so long to dry. Handtowels more often I think. I hoover when it looks desperate and mop the floor ditto. Am about to go and clean loo now, yuck.

Ta very much!

I am still baffled by the washing of towels after each use. 1. You should be clean when you use a towel. 2. sheets get much dirtier as we sweat in bed and shed vast maounts of skin.

I just hang bath towels on the line to dry them and wash them about 1 a week or so apart from hand towels in loos which are done daily.

Save water, think of the environment, build up your child's resistance to germs, let them be a little dirty I say.

Having been brought up by my mother I thought I was quite a domestic goddess but I am not.

sheets - fortnightly
towels - twice weekly and that includes hand towels and tea towels - face cloth I keep in the kitchen for wiping kids after meals gets chucked in direction of washing machine once it starts to smell.
hoover - weekly upstairs and stairs, twice weekly living room, as needed (ie less often) dining room
clean the loo (x3) - properly once a week, otherwise as needed, teaching DS (5)to get brush to his own skids but he still struggles to remember to flush.
mop the floor - weekly but go round with floor cloth at noticeably dirty bits in between.

So what do you think my Mum is like?

Report
Iklboo · 04/07/2006 16:21

Change sheets - when dog will no longer lie on bed
Wash towels - when they make us dirtier than when we got out of the shower
Hoover - what's one of them then?
Clean the loo - they clean?
Mop the floor - sorry, don't understand that one

Sorry - being silly

Sheets - fortnightly
Towels - weekly
Hoover - every other day - or a "through the house" at weekends
Clean the loo - daily
Mop the floor - every oether day
