co-op should be fine\

just tell them how great their products and dividend scheme is, i mean there dividend scheme is amazing. plus they are the most ethical supermarket in this country, all the fair trade etc.

I used to work in Asda and I would say that they are a good employer apart from the pitiful wages. It was really friendly and they were really keen to develop people, one of the major moans was that we were all constantly having to go on training courses.

I loved working the checkout as I had previously been on a factory production line and it is much more interesting. I was always encouraged to chat with the customers and it really made me feel part of the community. They were always good about changing hours to fit around childcare and even a few hours a week got me out of the house. I stopped because filing was more lucrative although not half as much fun.

NP - I worked for Co-op when I was a Student. They all have rrrrrrrreally stringent Health, Safety and Hygiene rules... so make sure you add something about how conscienscious (sp?) you are about that.

My DP has just finished his Management training with Tesco. They are a shower of w*nkers though.... but thats another thread. He likes it!

triceratops - glad you said 'fun', i know the wages are crap, but its enough to get me by with dh's on top of mine. i have just left a job that had better money but i hate hate hated it and decided it wasnt worth it (the money i mean)

i had a feeling the co-op would be strict with the health and safety thingy, one of the questions on the application form was "do you bite your nails"!

but i have a feeling its not deli or anything, prob the tills cos its night work, and the deli etc is closed at night, so im guessing its till (hopefully not shelf stacking, v boring and im such a weakling for things like that)

NP - If you want to apply for Tesco I can let you know what to put on your Psychometric test to guarantee you an interview.

DH has had a bad run-in with them recently but the benefits in Tesco are great.

NP - Not yet I don't think. Plus we're in Scotland so it may be different.

yes thats prob what it is. i think the co-ops wages are much of a likeness - thanks toothy, have just found out there is a new tesco 24hr opening near here v soon so i might get my foot in the door with them for opening if it doesnt work out with co-op. that prob entails a trip down the jobcentre (yuck)

I do merchandising in 3 different Tescos and the staff attitude and moral varies a lot and can vary from department to department. I think it depends on the management.

One of them is awfull the staff are always bitching and the stockroom is manky and messy with cages blocking corridoors. One is great, the stock room is so tidy and I can always find my stuff plus the staff are very helpful and friendly.

Good luck
