thanks essbee. i am still clinging to the hope they will be able to hold off another 5years, but its doubtful. he really isnt doing too well. Tho if they adjust his medication he may feel some improvement. They were hoping that if this was viral DCM he would've have had some improvement by ow, but last echo last year showed slight deterioation(spelling???) which isnt too good.

well am off soon to take dd1 to nursery, then will have to drop dd2 off at mieows, and head to the hospital this afetrnoon. really not looking forward to this. apart from the fact the clinic is miles away from the car park, so may have to steal a wheelchair for him.

fingers crossed it goes ok today.

I know it is terrifyimg but the transplant earlier rather than later will transform your lives.I waited too long for my kidney and my heart and other things deteriorated whilst on dialysisAnother 5yrs could affect him in other areas I know it is scarey but just think of life afterwards it is great

Good luck misdee. I agree, maybe if you can bear to it's betterto think of a transplant as a positive move, as it clearly was for essbee's uncle?

well he is being referred to harefield for assessment for a transplant. In some ways its a relief as he hopes that afterwards he wll have somthing more of a life, rather than just exsisting like he is atm. He has another check-up due in 4-6months at local hospital to make sure he 'doesnt slip thro the net' but we should hear soon from harefield.

As he specialisty said, they have held off as long as possible but now they cant drag it out any longer and transplant seems to be the way to go. She has always laid it out straight to us, even when he was first dx, in a+e she told us that transplant was a possibility.
