Help I'm burnt!

36mum · 05/07/2016 18:54

I get sunburnt so easily and so often I really should know better but I loathe sun cream, it makes me hot and sticky.

2 hrs at sports day and this is the developing result, I know I will really be glowing by bedtime.

Any suggestions as to how to calm and tone things down by tomorrow or I won't be leaving the house!Angrylol

Aloe Vera gel? Ive used Sudocrem in the past on small burns but it might work for sun cream (if you're not going anywhere and no one will see you Wink)

Aloe or after sun or even moisturiser. Put it in fridge.
Sudocrem will help calm it down

Yoghurt, sour cream, creme fraiche, a flannel soaked in milk, powdered milk made into paste.

All work really well.

I am very fair, freckled, ginger and burn very, very easily... which is why a tub of powdered milk sits in the bathroom... ready for use.

I'm pale and blonde and always get caught out like this, it pisses me off no end (pissed off with my skin and with myself for letting it happen, iyswim).

I doubt there's much you can do now apart from moisturise. I loathe sun cream too, but Ultrasun excellent (but eye wateringly expensive) or I take my factor 30 Nivea face moisturiser all down my chest.

But I do forget quite often Angry

I have found I can manage Boots Soltan, but it isn't great.

I have never found Aloe Vera when I need it, or I probably would use it as it is good, apparently.

But there is some evidence that milk protein helps reduce sunburn. It certainly soothes. And I usually have some dairy product to hand: cold yoghurt, straight from the fridge feel great. The powder gets thrown into the bath, just call me Cleo Smile

Get in a cool shower, and rinse off the sweat, and then keep it cool, and moisturise. It's a burn - take as much heat out if it as you can.

I've gently cleaned and moisturised but I'm worried I'm trapping in the heat!

Lay a cold, damp tea towel over the redness, keep rewetting it under the cold tap.

Apply yogurt and cover with another tea towel, take paracetamol for the pain.

No creams, treat it like a kitchen burn so cool shower and I'd use aloe straight from a plant if you have one but guessing you don't as you'd have already used it!

Ouch!

No moisturiser!

8FencingWire · 05/07/2016 19:34

Do not put moisturiser on, or any oil based products!!! Sudocrem works if you got any.

Get a bottle of banana boat kids dry touch SPF 50, it dries really quickly and is totally non sticky. It's fab stuff. I'm very pale with red hair and hate sun cream but it really is worth it. Piz buin do a good dry touch one too.

Calamine Lotion used to be used for cooling, but a recent improvement is a mixture of Calamine and Aqueous Cream, which is almost invisible in use and worth keeping in First Aid Kit for general problems. (Around £2 a tube).
Hope it improves soon.

I always have a shower or bath as hot as I possibly can and then go for a sleep. Seems to take the heat out for me (genuinely!)

Your mileage may vary.
