So I am on the 17th day of my period..

History is last couple of months, very on and off.

Sometimes on for a week, then off for afew days then back on for a couple of days.

Another month, only on for a couple of days and that's it.

This month, was only off two weeks and iv already been on for 17 days..

Has anyone got any idea??

I'm definitely not pregnant.
I'm not using any pills or anything like that
I am on 40mg of Citopram
If any of that helps

Thank you

You don't mention your age, any chance it could menopausal?
I'd go have a chat with your GP, it's always worth getting these things checked out!

Hi Pepsi! I've direct no experience of this but it sounds absolutely dreadful and must be so draining. I think definitely a trip to the GP is needed. I would have thought you are more likely to become anaemic with all the blood loss, so maybe ask the GP for a test. You could possibly take an iron supplement. I hear spatone is meant to be good. Wishing you all the best Thanks

(Without meaning to scare you) I think you need to see a doctor asap.

My periods used to be like this, and I thought it was a sign of menopause, but it turned out I had fibroids. Polyps can also cause excessive bleeding. After I had my fibroids removed my periods lasted only 3-4 days each - such a relief!

Try some zinc and magnesium supplements. For some reason they seem to stop mine Confused You need to go to your GP, you must be exhausted Sad Thanks

nippa, if you don't mind me asking, was it a myomectomy you had? I have them too and I'm trying to work out the best way to get rid of them.

I went to the doctor at 22 days of bleeding and he booked me in for a scan straight away.My period lasted 35 days in total.

Nothing showing on the scan.

Oh I sympathise. I am on day 32 of heavy bleed due to change of hrt. Now on norethisterone to try and stop bleeding after tranexamic acid had no effect.
I am drained.

Pepsi - Did you see a doctor yet?

LadySybil, yes, I had an abdominal myomectomy. I was supposed to have it done via keyhole surgery but by the time of my surgery I had been bleeding non-stop for three months and my uterus was full of blood so they opened me up. I had two large fibroids removed, one the size of an orange and one the size of a grapefruit. Happy to answer any questions about it, if you like. Smile

For gods sake go to the gp! You must be getting severely anaemic at the very least!

Bunbaker · 14/09/2014 21:45

Why haven't you been to see your GP yet? Asking on a public forum isn't gong to help, other than all of us telling you to see your doctor.

Stop Googling, Pepsi. I scared myself within an inch of my life by Googling my knee pain several months ago. No doubt Google is leading you to think you have mere days to live Smile

I'm sure you'll be fine but it's a good thing that you are seeing a doctor tomorrow.
