Good film to watch with dd aged 6?

Dd has been off with tonsillitis. We've worked our way through our disney back catalogue
Looking for suggestions for films that might be available on demand on sky that we might have missed?

What does your dd love watching? She likes the disney princess type stuff, frozen, Cinderella etc. have watched the new Cinderella film, maleficent not a hit.
Any recommendations? Loved Paddington, but not enjoyed night at the museum, oddly loves watching Harry potter with big bro though has rejected any dinosaur type ones. Am trying to avoid another day of scooby doo...

In not sure she's seen inside out, will have a look thanks. Yes, I love the classics, so either seen most, or she doesn't like anything too 'scary' as she puts it (chitty chitty bang bang, Alice in wonderland ...!) but I'll see if sky has others too.

We cancelled sky when ds1 was born, 9 years ago as just didn't watch enough to justify it. Got it back when dc3 was born no idea why as I have zero time to watch it now! But we'll snuggle on sofa whilst he naps today!

Never know what else to do when they're poorly, apart from tv. She's not really up to books or colouring.

Oh monster high... I think we saw Monster university, guessing that's probably a later one, but she did enjoy that so I'll look for them too, thanks all! She's just saying we could watch Snow White. Again. And again. Oh joy

Thanks, will look at the extra suggestions (good to have a list for when ds1 is out at rugby on the weekend when it's raining!) she loves Matilda, but despite loving chocolate has found willy wonka too scary so far!

Still too lethargic for colouring and magazines, hoping antibs kick in soon for her.

Has she seen The Secret Garden? The one with Maggie Smith from... 1993, I believe. Beautiful adaptation. I was ten when it came out but my sister was the same age as your daughter and she loved it too.

A Little Princess, by the same author, is also lovely, and from what you've described would probably suit your daughter's tastes.

I'm afraid I'm not sure if these are available on demand as we don't have Sky here (obscure corner of Europe) but you could try.

What about the newish Peter Pan?

Ooh we have watched the secret garden, but it was some time ago, so that might be a good one, as we've had the book a while (one of my childhood faves!) but not yet read. Also little princess, I'll get DH to check his Netflix for a little library of them stored for times like these, thanks!

It was a while ago buy my DD favourites (that I had to watch a gazillion times) were - Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Sound of Music, Annie, Mary Poppins.

My dd's fave is Matilda. She also loved maleficent though I've just noticed you said that wasn't a hit! Also- "Happy ever after" I think it's called- the live action one where a princess is transported to New York city! Sweet

DS loved Matilda, and Inside Out, Paddington, all the usual films. A couple of oldies that he's really enjoyed have been Bedknobs and Broomsticks, and The Wizard of Oz.

The Monster High stuff is not part of the (excellent) Monsters Inc, Monsters University franchise. It's an tween American doll franchise like Bratz or Barbies with a horror/sci fi theme.

If you've got sky, try the Boomerang channel - they often have lots of tom and jerry on which might make a nice change of pace.

ds (7) has adored them for years and will still happily sit and roar with laughter at them. There are also Tom and Jerry films - best is the Nutcracker one - which is based on the nutcracker ballet and uses the music from it - very little actual speaking - which after a lot of films and speaking is quite a nice change of pace. I often encourage the dc to watch it in the car because it means that there's just music coming from behind me rather than some kids film that is screeching in my ear...

Ahh thanks zipzap I am tom & Jerry-ed out!!! She would watch them all day long. she's one of those Children who would watch and rewatch her favourites constantly, rather than find something new and equally good!

There's a mix of stuff we've watched, rejected or never seen so I'll work my way through and once again, thanks very much for all responses!
