Ive just been prescribed this for anxiety. Yesterday was all rosy and i was just so glad i went to the GP. Today im sat here looking at the damn box and too worried to take it!!

DD has a party to go to tomorrow and i have to stay, been dreading it for weeks and i need to know if these tablets are going to take the edge off my anxiety so i can relax about it a little. So i really need to take my first one today to see if they work or if they make me feel funny.

If you are still with me who has taken it? Does it make you feel dizzy or anything? Can't be doing with that as dizzyness sets off my anxiety..

It says it slows your heartrate so already i have imagined myself taking it now and my heart stopping and DD's being alone in the house with my corpse until 6pm when DH gets in...lol

this is a beta blocker - no psych affects just dampens down the physical symptoms - great stuff

I take them. Some people feel tired on them but I don't (well no more than usual).
I was getting physical symptoms like light-headedness and palpitations. They definitely make me feel calmer and more stable.

You'll be fine, honest!

I haven't taken it for years and years but I used to for public speaking sometimes and I would just take a half tablet.

I have been taking it for a couple of years, but not for anxiety and have had no problems with it at all. No dizzyness or other side effects - heart still seems to be beating .

If you are worried then could you start on say half a tablet and see how you are on that and then build it up to the full dose.

I take them. The first few times I used to get quite freaked out by the fact that I thought I should have all the physical symptoms of a panic attack (racing heart, shallow breathing etc) but I didn't even though I still felt anxious. They were wonderful as they helped me got on with stuff without being anxious about panicking which, whaddya know, was leading to the panic attacks!

Great, thanks for sharing. I just took half a 40mg tablet

Sounds weird that you can feel anxious but not have the physical symptoms! I know thats whats causing my attacks. The horrid racing heart, lightheaded feeling. Fingers crossed these will work then. Good to hear it is helping some of you deal with your anxiety. Must be good!

Oh i forgot to ask, if it slows your heart down what happens when you excersise? Does it just beat fast as it would during excersise??

I love them too. Take half or one table when I'm having a really bad day and getting jittery and they calm me right down. Never had any side effects. I think of them like having a glass of wine - they take the edge off your anxiety without making you feel at all woozy and I've take them before events and function to help me face them too.
