I have had depression for a long time. Lots of different reasons. Have had emotional problems too. One of which I have had for 15 years.

One hour with the right person, saying the right things, and I am sorted.

Still a long way to go but ticking one thing off is progress and I am a happy bunny.

Just answered to send you here, fb

It was to see what psychotherapy I need and what will help me.

so more to come then? I'm having psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the moment - it's hard work but I can see it will get me where I need to be eventually.

What will you be having?

No idea.

I have to see her again for her to decide what I need.

So when will that be? Who/what did you see?

It's a huge step to start on therapy - I remember feeling a huge sense of relief when I did, but also felt a bit stupid, like I was making it all up or something. I feel like I'm being too self-indulgent, spending two hours a week talking about myself.

How great that you feel so good right now though - when you're depressed, happy days are something to be celebrated!

I see her in a couple of weeks but I don't know when or what will happen after that.

I am assuming she was some kind of psych.

I also feel a bit daft talking about myself. But I also know I have been way past rock bottom and trying to deal with it all myself hasn't work. Have tried for about 20 years so figure I have given it a good go.

It's a shame we all turn to therapy as a last resort - I'm sure most people would spend far fewer years depressed, and need far less time in therapy, if we all started it the minute we realised there was a problem!

Really good luck with it all

It isn't always us that fail to see the problem......
