HI I have to go to aunties today with my DH and 3DDs.I feel really depressed about it as they have no kids and super organised house. All my female relatives are also super good cooks. I thought about feigning sickness but getting too late as have to go soon. What would you do.Can't pretend life with 3 kids and dog is perfect anymore.Feel like I lie to everyone.

Do you have an on going problem? AM not sure as you dont say.

Do all these relatives have children? Im sure no one expects your house to be perfect. She may have a super organised house but in actual fact be wishing she had lots of children running about the house.

I would try and go
If you don't it becomes a sort of cycle and you end up cancelling lots of things
Think about what a nice time your 3 dds will have nad nt about how clean the house is
good luck

also nobody is perfect
your brother's wife probably feels inadequate compared to you for all you know
I know when my sister was having panic attacks the more people she told the more people kept saying 'oh yes me too'

Ask them how they feel. if they invited you was it out of duty or Love? Can you google some activities in their area and go there as a whole family then tea at aunties. My Mum used to hate going to my Gran's in Tottenham. We spent all day being told off by Gran or given chores to do. So she always turned up 2 hours late and they would row (of course) Google had not been invented and not much to do in Tottenham but that was in the early 70's. Good luck

If they want to see the children go for a walk and leave them to enjoy the children. Get a newspaper grab a coffee see if anyone want to join you Walking the best therapy. I'm going to do that now while DH is trying to teach DS to cycle. I know one will return in tears the other in a bad mood?? Which way around I'm not sure! P>S I love Delia only cookery book worth reading.
