I have been on top of the world the last 2 weeks, love the sunshine adn the hot weather. Today however, i feel asthough i have a brick around my neck - feel really low and can't be bothered etc etc. I'm sure that it is this SAD condition.

Does anyone on here also suffer with it? And woudl you go as far as emigrating to the sun???

Exactly how I was feeling! Struggling to get going today and just want to crawl back to bed! I wouldn't emigrate for the sun allown but SAD is a very hard thing to live with at times especialy in the winter! I have considered investing in a light box - but never got round to it.

Lets hope the sun shines again soon

Yep, I know I get SAD and this year I bought myself a proper SAD therapy light for over the winter and it did make a huge difference. I have also switched all the bulbs downstairs for bright daylight energy saver bulbs.

Beleive me this might not be full blown SAD but I have been like this for years and community nurse has commented how my mood is mirrored by the weather. Yes it is worse in Feb as that is several months into the winter but I am definatly SAD today.

Another sign of it is if you go a bit giddy and manic when you do get a lot of sunshine. I end up rather hyper and actually, the first week of the SAD therapy light I felt motion sick from it (a fairly common side effect apparently) until I got used to the new light levels.

this is quite a good summary of what SAD is

I think I definitely suffer from this and having lived in the sun for quite a few years, I seem to find it more and more difficult to cope mid winter as the years go by. Light box has helped, and so has taking st johns wort.... exercise too...

And light therapy has to be used daily in the winter - and I really noticed abrupt change of mood on the days I skipped (for example if I had a lie in on the weekend) - so yes, no reason why it wouldn't come on quickly with abrupt change in weather... you've had a week or two of "high dose" daylight then suddenly its gloomy. At least over winter the light levels gradually decrease.

(and thanks to this thread I've suddenly twigged why I'm so lethargic today too... lol)
