Hi all
Unsure what to do, my 20 year old daughter came to me the other day and said she hadn't been feeling well. She said she is up and down and having strange weird thoughts. We took her to the docs her gave her sertraline 2 week dose with a plan to see him on the day they run out 14 pills at 50mg.

She has been really bad today. I've had to bring her son over to my house as she just wants to sit in a dark room she won't come out she is just sleeping. I went over there and spotted her medication on the side and already 8 tablets have gone (she got these 2 days ago) I asked why so many have gone and she said she's been taking 4 a day (euivelent of 200mg) and plans to tell the doctor she's lost them when they've run out. I've asked why and she said the dose is too low it won't help her plus she keeps saying she's beyond help and doesn't know what to do. She won't tell the doctor what she's been doing as she doesn't want to get in to trouble. Will this harm her and what do I do?

I don't think it will harm, as in overdose, but my DD started on 50mg and had some horrible side effects and was only increased to 100mg after six weeks. Maybe try to get her back to GP on Monday. Good luck.

She's also just told me she's taken 2 co codomol as well as she claims she has tooth ache (she had some left over from when she had surgery a few months back) will this combined harm her?

200mg is the top dose for Sertraline - she must go back to the GP as he needs to know what she's taking
Also the "I've lost them " line won't work more than once ..
