On imipramine and breastfeeding

Hi, I have been to docs and told I may have baby blues going into PND. The doc gave me imipramine. I am breastfeeding and all internet sites I look at say wean baby off breast whilst taking. I don't want to and can't anyway, she won't take any bottle. Am so worried about what effect it will have on her that I am thinking I should just pull my socks up and get on with life and not take the drugs. Any advice?

Hmmm, this page says it is fine. (However, significant serum levels were not detected in the infant (Stancer & Reed, 1986). Infants breast-fed by mothers on imipramine were observed over a 2-year period and did not show any adverse effects of the drug.)

This page also says it's probably fine, you need to watch for the baby seeming sedated, and having a dry mouth. How old is your little one?

And another page saying it's fine.

I really wouldn't worry about it, tbh.

I totally wouldn't sweat it. Take your meds, keep breastfeeding, really don't worry about it.

I have had a few good days since seeing the doc. Have also started taking iron tablets which seem to have perked me up. Have the tablets incase in couple days things go bad again. Thanks for help x.
