I have a long history of depression which is currently being treated with anti psychotic medication which is working well.
I am also morbidly obese, over the last few weeks I have been mostly following a strict diet, eating only fruit, veg, meat and fish.
My mood on the whole has been greatly improved save for a couple of days when I have eaten rubbish!
It has dawned on me that actually what food I put into my body has a big effect on my depression.
Does anyone fancy joining me in an food and mood thread??

I had a half hearted go at 'what I called' my tryptophan diet - due to onset of menopause causing mood swings.
No caffeine, except 1st cup of tea of the day, plenty of fruit and veg, particularly bananas which are high in tryptophan. I also have 1 slice of wholemeal bread with tiny amount of spread for snacks, as they say you have to eat little and often, but that may not suit weight loss diet. Eggs are OK.
I've feltmuch better, but also find that I need to exercise everyday to keep stress at bay.
Generally only eat non-processed food due to a my son's food allergy, so nearly all of it is fruit, veg and meat.
Good to hear you are feeling better, and have found a way to improve your mood!
