Best not to try and self-prescribe - and best not to have yourself running round in circles like a dog chasing its tail. The GP is the best person to advise and presumably has given you the Citalopram that he's prescribed because he thinks it best meets your needs.

My advice would be to take the ones you've been prescribed, stop fretting about whether it's the right one or not, and see how you feel in four weeks time. There's no "best" ad for anxiety - it's just a case of finding the right one for you, and the only way you'll do that is by trying the one you have been given.

Citalopram is excellent for general anxiety - if you don't respond to it go back to the GP and they will try you with something else.
