Well as the title says...5 weeks into having my DD and I am finding it a struggle.

I am feeling isolated at home. I am struggling to get anything done and am BORED!!! My day consists of too many menial tasks and I am not sure what I was expecting from motherhood but I need more. Certainly more than meeting with other mums eating cake/ drinking coffee/ talking about babies.

My daughter is wonderful and I love her but boy oh boy...this is dull. I am not being a bad mother but I do feel unfulfilled by life at home.

It would be so much easier if I had family around to help. Argh...just letting of steam...the dogs stopped listening

I am with you there. DS is 4 months, I love him to death but I find staying home really depressing now. I also feel guilty about it because I actually chose to stay at home (until June thankfully) and some people do not have the luxury of having the choice. So I feel I should not complain.
Whenever I mention loneliness and boredom people always suggest mother and toddler groups and such like... But even this is getting dull, bored of talking about nappies, burping and feeding.
I decided to do a bit of volunteering to actually do something different. You might be able to volunteer for a few hours a week/month by doing something at home. It did me the hell of a lot of good.
Are you going back to work eventually? Maybe you should consider going back earlier?

Let's face it - 5 week old babies are not that exciting - they sleep and lie around too much. He will soon be a lot more interesting though! Before you know it you will be interacting so much more Smile

I love toddlerhood - totally fun fascinating and infuriating

Do something for you, in a week you will be 'allowed' to do exercise classes again. Surely someone can have baby for an hour while you do that/
