How do you tone your lower back? Anybody found particular exercises useful?

I would say 80% diet and 20% upper body strength training

Drop sugar! Since significantly reducing my sugar intake I've lost my back fat. Still have it at the sides but there is a marked improvement.

You can't spot burn fat. How and where you lose fat through diet and exercise is dependent on genetics. If you wan to lose back fat you need to watch what you eat and get exercise, and hope it comes off.

Great answers from everyone! Fat in that area (and hips) is there for a reason (breastfeeding). Your body clings on to body fat in that area because it wants to sustain life. We just sometimes have to give it a kick and tell it we don't need it any more! Definitely cut the carbs from sugars.
