Just that really. Want to do it but have never been running before. Bah at do I need and what would be an added extra?

As in, what kit?
I started with my ordinary clothes and a pair of trainers, but after a couple of weeks bought a running top and a pair of lycra leggings.

The more you run, the more stuff you will acquire...

Good luck with it: I ran for a year but can't run at the mo and am really missing it: NEVER thought I would say that!

Totally up to you. You def need trainers.

You could wear normal leggings or joggers with a t-shirt. I have sweat wicking running tights, sports bra (actually I'd say that's essential too) and a sweat wicking running top. Saying that I was going to the gym a lot before doing the c25k plan.

I find the proper sports stuff good as I can stay cooler and therefore run faster. Totally up to you.

I also have an arm band for my iPhone and a running water bottle.

Good luck. I've just finished and love running now.

Yes, as in kit Smile. DH is convinced that I need proper running shoes before I even start.

I'd say he's probably right. Maybe not super-dooper expensive running shoes but a pair of decent trainers, preferably running trainers I would say are a must.

Running shoes are designed to support your foot properly and prevent injuries. I use my running shoes as trainers for the gym/Zumba too and they are definitely not designed for that (I slip all over the place in Zumba) but they are the best running shoes I've had so far.

You definitely need half decent shoes...but not necessarily expensive fancy ones, just something you won't hurt yourself in.

Decent shoes, from a proper running shop where they analyse your gait - don't need to be expensive. Sports bra. Something to hold your phone and some running headphones because earbuds will fall out.

Added extra: running tights and wicking top - H&M sportswear is very good value. If you really get into it, merino tops like those by Icebreaker are fantastic - they never get stinky!

Oh, and something to keep your keys in Grin

Yes, you need decent running shoes.
I use a running belt with a big pocket for my keys, iPod, etc.

I wear earbuds for running, they never fall out.

Sports bra and running shoes are the real essentials for starting C25K - if you get on with running you'll want to get lots of other kit in due course.

Specialist trainers
Sports bra

Then it's nice to get into breathable t-shirts/ leggings. I started off in hiking gear which was pretty good, particularly in the winter.

I like gadgets so last autumn I got a light running jacket, gloves, cap with lights. I've moved onto a sports watch as the GPS on my phone doesn't like some of my regular routes. Apps like strava/ endomonde are motivating for logging what you do.

But the trainers and bra are essential to get you comfortable and injury free to get started. The rest is nice.

I went to sports direct, and picked up some running shoes for not much ££, and also some leggings, a shirt and an outer top for when it rains. Sports bra from M&S. I could have coped with just the sports bra and the shoes (and normal clothes) but having the running stuff seemed to help, particularly the proper outer top for when it's raining. I later got myself a pair of running gloves, as it was quite cold when I started.
