Which exercise classes to do?

So I have found a gym which I would like to join purely for their exercise classes. I currently run, but would like to run once or twice a week and then do 3 classes a week too. The problem is that there is a variety to choose from.

I would like to do either pilates or yoga once a week, not sure which so would like to know which one is best.

So the other choices are things like HIIT, spinning, Insanity, Kettlebells, Boxercise, Metafit, circuits, abs blast and loads more. Obviously I can't do them all.

Im looking to increase fitness levels and tone up. I am watching my food in order to lose weight (Ive basically stopped snacking and upped my intake of vegetables and drink more water and less other drinks such as coke/hot chocolate)

So which classes would you recommend?

Kettle bells is great for burning fat and toning. It's also great fun.

Metafit, hiit and insanity are all great fitness boosters but not as great for specific toning.

If I had to choose 2 I'd do kettlebells and one of the hiit classes.

pilates is probably a better choice over gym yoga (say that as an absolute devotee of yoga! but yours might vary, ours tended to be just three postures a session and a bit too static for me)

I loved the insanity DVDs! bet those classes are good fun

Its OK Mitchy, I thought Id create my own thread in case anyone could recommend classes who didn't really run (or at least weren't on the runners thread)

Ive worked out a little timetable for my exercise.

Mon: Kettlecise
Tues: Run AM and Pilates on the evening
Wed: day off
Thur: HIIT
Fri: Spinning (not sure if I might make it a day off though to begin with)
Sat: Parkrun
Sun: Day off

After a bit I can mix it up and swap my workouts maybe. I might try Insanity once Im a bit fitter. Im not too bad now could be worse, but could also do with being a bit more in shape before going into something as intense as insanity. I do really fancy it though.

your timetable looks fun!

I've just crawled back to David Lloyd and can see cx worx in the timetable

anyway I might join you biscuits in trying a few new classes (the novelty of classes wears off pretty fast for me though, am glad I'm only on a 3 month pass!)

You can try them all, but not all at the same time.

I think it's up to you to find a class which you enjoy and gives you the results you want.

Everyone is different and has different goals.

Im joining today and will try the ones I have decided on. If I get bored or decide they are not for me I can chop and change them.

They have 2 gyms which are the same distance from me and the second is starting classes in January so I will be able to have more ability to choose other combinations as you can use either gym. Its not a big chain like Bannatynes, David Lloyd etc.
