When do you drink?

Can I ask runners when they take a drink out with them? What sort of time or distance running do you need to rehydrate whilst running instead of waiting until you get home?

I've got a running bottle it's sort of got a hole in the middle so u can hold it and run easily. I find I need to keep hydrated. Also drink loads when I get home. U can get the bottles in running shops or online.
