What can I get my Mum for her 80th birthday?

She's able to afford to buy anything she wants/needs, is fit and well - uses laptop, smartphone, drives long distances to visit friends etc so difficult to know what to get her that she doesn't already have. Any ideas?

Posh tea out? Make a photo album of pics of the family- artwork framed by the dc 's? Special trip to the theatre?

Has she got a digital photo frame? We got my mum one and put a slideshow of photos of her life on it.

My 83 yr old mum loves her kindle, says it's much easier than holding a book when reading in bed.

I'd go with 'posh' tea out
Do you live near London? Fortnums do an amazing afternoon tea.
If not maybe you could organise for a fabulous hamper, & do tea yourself.
Or take her to Bologne for Lunch on the Ferry, we did this for MIL's 80 th
Most 80 year olds don't want stuff, I think ( I may be wrong ) they like to do things with friends & family. What about a matinee to a west End show? You could take her to a beauty salon & get her nails done. A visit to somewhere nostalgic?
What about a Thames river cruise? they go from the Embankment & usually include lunch & live music.
The Orient Express do a gentle train trip from London to Brighton with a great lunch.
If you want to buy her a gift, think about something she can use now, Perfume, hand cream etc.

My Mum is 85. She loves garden tokens, so she can buy plants for her summer pots and baskets.

She also loves her iPad, but she bought that for herself!

My sisters and I got a ring for Mum for her 80th. It is one of those Victorian DEAREST rings; diamond, emeralsd, amethyst, ruby etc.
She loves it, wears it every day and had fun showing all her friends what her girls had got her.

My mum just had a birthday. I bought her an electric tin opener.

Not a glamorous present at all. However, like your mum, she has pretty much everything she wants and if she finds something she wants she buys it for herself.

She is also an old lady, with weak wrists, so a tin opener it was.
