for those of us new to all this - what is CD? Hello by the way - quick intro for those of you who don't know me. I have 1 dd (4) and sonce having her have had 2 mcs - one nearly a year ago, and one in Jan 2008. Not quite TTC - but not TNTC if that makes sense!..
If I TTC I will need lots of help - as usually I couldn't even tell you when AF is due (despite being regular as clockwork!)
Dawn Help yourself to my special energy making, baby making chocolate x Nervousal Hi and welcome, CD is the number of days since the start of your period (AF) So the first day of your AF is CD1 and so on. If you let us know your stats i.e. what day on your cycle your on (or guess if that's difficult for you) How many cycles you have been TNTC/TTC and the rest we know i.e. one child which is the #1 abbreviation. So sorry to hear about your 2 m/c's I had an mm/c in January 08 too.
I am currently TTC no 3 (DS1 is 3, DS2 is 18 months). This is our 2nd cycle of 'really' trying although for a few months before that we weren't being careful, if that makes sense? I have PCOS and my cycles are pretty long and irregular - the last two have been 42/43 days.
I thought I had ovulated on CD20 (based on EWCM) and then had some spotting on CD28, so got all excited thinking that was an implantation bleed. However I've now had 3 BFNs (the last one today, CD35) so it looks like I was wrong and it was just my body playing tricks on me. I now wish I hadn't bothered testing, as that sinking BFN feeling is just horrible. I'm hoping AF now arrives soon so we can start all over again, but that could be a while yet.
I am hoping I get my period before the wine bottle is opened tonight. Otherwise I will feel bad about drinking. Hrmph. Still no period and still no BFP!
This is my first cycle of TTC so I'm a real novice. The advice I've been given on here has been great so far, but typically, I'm at the stage where I'm "Dramatising" every strange tweek or pain as a symptom of something more serious...
I was on Dianette for about 8 years and came off of the pill about 3 months ago.
Since then I've had three regular periods, although slightly longer cycle than the cycle I had while I was on the pill. They tend to be every 35 days now instead of 28. I was on dianette because of "mild acne". It was by no means severe but you know, vanity and all that...
My doctor never mentioned PCOS to me and I didn't really know anything about it. Now I'm off the pill, my mild acne has come back (although it did take a couple of months to resurface) but I wondered what other symptoms I might be showing if I've got PCOS.
Periods were normal on the pill, not too heavy or painful, not too light. Now I'm not on the pill, they've changed but aren't heavy or painful and are still regular.
Should I speak to the GP about my fears do you think or am I worrying for nothing ?
Hi Dawn. What were your periods like before you went on the pill? Mine have always been really irregular, at times I would go 5 or 6 months without having one (I know, sounds like bliss, but actually no fun at all). The PCOS was diagnosed around 8 years ago after I had some blood tests & a scan of my ovaries which showed cysts. So far I've been lucky enough to avoid many of the other symptoms, which can include weight gain (and problems losing weight), acne and excess hair - and probably many others, I am not by any stretch of the imagination an expert.
Oh, and of course, it can have an impact on your fertility, but like the other symptoms the extent of this varies from woman to woman.
From what you've said it doesn't sound to me like you have got PCOS, though like I said I'm no expert, or even particularly knowledgeable. Its really common for cycles to take a while to settle down after the pill, and yours are still regular and, at 35 days, not that long. If you are worried though you could always ask your GP about it.
I hope that helps a bit. Attillathemeerkat seems to be the resident expert on PCOS, and has given me some really helpful advice in the past.
AF finally arrived so i've updated list. I've taken the first of my clomid today, this is the start of the IUI process so i'm busy sweeping up all the baby dust that seems to be floating around.
het guys just nipped in to say hi congrats to all those who got there BFP's june and july congratulations to you all XXXXX
welcome to the people who have just joined the lovely new sparkly thred X
well guys ive not been around for ages because ive just been so busy im so sorry ive been negecting you.

im back to CD6 cycle 6 ive been using OPK's for the last few months and i havent got a positive yet iim getting really down in the dumps is it true that if you ahd clomid on the NHS oncce you cant have it again?? I had it to help concieve LO im thinking i might need to have it again as i dont seem to be ovulating at all im going to book a reflexology session for next week ive heard it has good results.
Anyway i will try not to neglect you all again lots of babydust XXXX JJB
hello hello hello! Glad i found my buddies! thought i had lost you...
I am amazed how efficient the NHS has been - had a letter today for the fallopian tube scan. Im having it next fri! Have to have it at a certain time of the month, and no TTC this month as they have a fiddle around with everything and you have to let your body settle again. But... so pleased things are moving quickly, and we'll be back to normal next month. Just got to sort DH and the swimmers now! Feel better today, not so down. Hope all of you are doing ok? Beanie hope you're not driving yourself too mad. Did you know that a good percentage of BFP's dont show till a week to ten days late!
Hi, CAn I join this thread? My AF is due on Tues or Wed next week. We are not exactly TTC but also TNTC so we will see!! The reasons I am mildly optimistic are that I have had weird abdominal twinges for the last couple of days and constant CM. Also feeling v v tired, but had busy week as well. No tender breasts or anything though. Hope everyone is having a nice Friday. No wine for me this week, although seem unable to stop eating chocolate!
Hi eveerone, please can I join? Congrats to everyones BFP's hopefully you are showing the rest of us the way!! Iam on CD31 Cycle 2 TTC#1. I cracked this morning and tested and got yet again BFN!! Either eish AF would hurry up or a BFP would make itself known. Had no cramping for the last 2 days only other symptons is that I have exzema on my hand which seems to be everywhere over the last couple of days! Please does anyone have any advise?? x
I'm still only TTC#1, but when it does get to my turn to actually do a test, which ones are the best?
I'm getting the sense that there are a lot that aren't as good as others....
Beaniesteve what a nightmare for you! Don't you just sometimes time would jump ahead a couple of weeks or you just had a chrystal ball?!! Wouldn't that be cool - "No DH, let's not bother tonight 'cos it won't work until 26th August, we'll wait until then!" .
Dawn you should test on the day your period is due or late really. Any other way leads to madness. I think test are different because some are more sensitive than others. I've been using Tesco but people seem to like Clearblue (Not the digital).
LobsterLass Congratulations on BFP Dawn I used Tesco, ones off ebay and clearblue I think everyone has different opinions and if your like me you will keep testing with different ones to see if the result is the same Beanie No AF is always a good sign, and you can only get a false -ve never a false +ve. If you can wait a couple more days then test again (easier said than done I know ) How is the symptom spotting going? It all looks encouraging
Hello to the newbies Zen and Eth also welcome back to Josie
Lou Good news on the speediness of your scan, good luck
I went into panic mode yesterday, had some spotting and imagined the worst. But so far so good, I've had no more spotting and trying to stay calm. Off to GP Weds to book an early scan, fingers crossed beanie is still OK x
Congrats to Lobsterlass on your BFP!! Just wondering if anyone has any advise as AF has still not arrived and i have completly lost hope after getting 2 BFN!!
Zen, you and me both. The advice I had from my doctor last time this happened (5 months ago) was to wait another week then test again! However I have just gone and bought 2 clearblue tests incase this continues into next week.
I'm starting to bore myself though and my OH is going nuts, I've tested 5 times (Tesco tests) all negative. How many days over are you?
Thanks for the congratulations ladies. I've snuck off to the due in March 09 thread now. In the nicest way possible, I really hope that I don't have to come back here!
Only 3 but when AF arrives it usually is here within a day or 2, i was having all the cramping on and off all last week but then suddenly stopped on thurs. Theres been nothing since! I bought some cheapy teats off ebay, dont know if they are any good? a friend used them and managed to get her BFP pretty quickly. I feel like my cycles are now just increasing in days every month until i am gonna get to the point they are non existant ha ha how extreme am i ? Don't know what to thnk for the best?
AWobster, I hope so too. Is it scary it being your first?
Zen - I am 4/5 days over and usually have a clockwork cycle, in that I can expect it every 24/5 days on the dot. Apart from a few months ago when the same thing happened and I was a week late! It's hugely frustrating isn't it?
I have used tests from ebay (ovulation and pregnancy) and as far as I know they are reliable.
Thanks Beanie, at least I can still say im normal its good to be able to speak to people who are going through it( or have gone through) the same!! We WILL get there! x

hello all,
had a busy family weekend, but checking in now! Think i got muddled in the list with the new people joining, so adjusted it! And did todays update. Hope i got everyone else right! xx
I have 2 DDs and DH was adamant that we were finished our family . After a couple of 'accidents' last month, I had really strong pregnancy symptoms. But negative tests. The suspense held on because I was still feeding DD2 (10mo) loads, so no periods. This gave DH time to realise that he would quite like it if the result was positive.
What I wasn't expecting, was that he has said that he didn't really feel he was complete, but was just worried about money. AND HE WANTS TO TTC!!!!
So on the plus side: - No contraception - Some signs of fertility - 5 days ago shut shop on night feeds for DD2, which is majority of feeding.
On the negatives: - DD2 still feeds about 3-4 times in day so ?effect on fertility. - No AFs to go by yet (but hoping to catch the first egg, of course).
I did feel a 'pop' 3 nights ago after a couple of days of cramps, so I wondered if that might be ovulation prompted by my sudden reduction in breastfeeding?
I did also feel a tiny pop last night, so of course imagination in overdrive wondering if you can sense conception!
Miss Naive here again, can I please ask what a CP is? I looked in the acronym list but I don't think the meaning is the one that you're all talking about?!
Oh well, at least there's bound to be lots of BDing this week - weather's supposed to be awful - !!
Hi ladies, Lovely new thread. Let's hope it means lots of BFPs. TEW got me so I'm back at the top. Blackrock It looks as though we are CBs. Lots of luck to you this month. How long are your cycles normally? Do you know when you OV? BS Sorry to read that AF got you. . I've seen a few of your posts this month about lack of AF and really hoped that it was your turn. ****************** baby dust. Welcome to the newbies. I hope your stay will be very short (in the nicest way possible). Dawn It takes a while to get to grips with the acronyms. A CP is a chemical pregnancy. Big congrats to Lobsterlass and Hopingcat
Hi Dawn, a CP is a Chemical Pregnancy. It's when you miscarry before there's enough to show up on a scan, so the only evidence that you were pregnant is chemical in nature i.e. your hormone level.
With mine, I found out I was pregnant on day 27 of my cycle. I started to miscarry about 11 days later, so when I was 5.5 weeks pregnant.
They conducted an internal scan but there was nothing big enough to be seen. The beta HCG level in the blood samples they took over the next four days confirmed that I was miscarrying as the levels were pretty much halving every 48 hours.
Thanks LobsterLass, that sounds really awful! I can understand why you're so scared. Why do some people find it so easy and others find it so hard?!
I'm a bit confused today, I have to say. I've gone to the toilet about 6 times this morning (since 8am) and only had 2.5 cups of tea... Also real pains in my abdomen, similar to AF cramps but not quite as painful. I think my cycle may still be settling so if it's 28 days, AF is due in 10 days, but has recently been 35 days so should be OVing now but test this morning didn't even have a faint line, but tests showed a dark line last week. Really confused - not quite sure whether I'm just over-reading symptoms!!
Also, don't have the luxury of having the Boobs symptom, as mine aren't real so don't have a lot of feeling in them anyway.... Lots of reading symptoms that don't exist I guess...
Sparkly My cycles have been between 21 and 25 days for the last six months. Have been TTC for well over a year for no.2. I breastfed DS1 for a year, He is a 5/06 babe. Lucky to have him and appreciate him loads, if one is all we get I feel lucky, but another would be a bonus as we are a small extended family, and i don't want him to be all alone in the world as an adult! (silly i know, but a phone number for a distant relative does wonders when things go wrong).
Not so worried now as sister in law is pregnant so DS will have a cousin!
DS1 took well over a year - i was about to go for help when I fell pregnant with him. i had stopped thinking about ttc at the time!
I don't know when i ovulate. Gyn looked at me and confirmed that i do, but in 07 my cycles were 12 to 20 days, and gyn I may not ovulate every month because of this. Have started using fertility friend and am tracking carefully, planning things carefully for optimum TTC abilities (superhero TTC)!
I'm TTC#1, cycle 1, CD17. Had mc in March and decided to wait three cycles before trying again. Have never charted or anything, but just started using the Clearblue sticks as have no idea when I ov! Everything seemed to settle down v. quickly after mc, so I'm back to my usual 28-32 days. Looks from stick I used yesterday that I should ov tomorrow.
Anyway, thought it'd be nice to have some hands to hold on 2ww.
DawnAS - could be implantation cramping - fingers crossed! I had it the first time but didn't realise what it was till mn educated me!
It's lovely to see this thread 'alive' again and have lots of newbies to chat to. I feel like I've been here forever. Welcome to everybody.
Blackrock My cycles average about 31 days but AF has been very strange for a few months and I've been having a lot of spotting. I went to GP and she did 21 day bloods which all came back normal. Are you temping and using OPKs? I've been using FF for about 5 months now and find it very helpful and it has shown me that I OV around the same time every month, usually about CD16. I feel the same as you about a sibling for DD...I feel so lucky to have her (she's an 10/05 baby) but would really love another. Did you mean a CB rather than a TB? CB=calendar buddy.
I'm TTC#1 and on my first cycle too. Sorry to hear about your mc - emotionally battering times. It's goot to see you back here and hope this time you're luck sticks around. Will keep fingers and toes crossed for you...and the rest of us!
I wasn't going to join in because I thought it would be a bit wierd mentiong periods etc, but you all seem VERY straightforward about it all so here goes.
First cycle (is that how many goes you've had??) of TTC I am on CD14 ( I think) I have a 26 day regular as clockwork cycle. Was on the pill (mercilon) for 4 years then had the implanon fitted which I had taken out a year ago (in preparation for TTC but a change of countries delayed it until now) I quit smoking about a month ago, have not yet given up caffeine, am eating fairly healthy (though cookies and cream hagen daaz is my weakness) and am exercising a little but not as much as I would like!
I am super excited and hoping for a BFP for myself and everyone else in here!!
Thanks for adding me to the list Beanie. Just wanted to clarify, when TTC am I right in thinking that you should TTC every other day while you are ovulating to re generate the sperm (I saw it on Dr Phil I think!)And am I also right in thinking that you ovulate for around 5 days ish, I haven't used any of the ovulation predictor tests as yet.
Good night ladies, hope to see some BFP's soon!! (7 hours ahead of UK - I'm not being lazy!)
Hi everyone, well AF is finally here and I can say its one time when im glad it eventually arrived. I thought there was a pretty low chance we conceived this month. But hey back on track and ready to go get my BFP this month!! Well fingers crossed for everyone i'm now on cycle 3! x
Beanie and Blackrock and Zen we will get there! whats happening with other people?
I am getting worried about my tubes/dye/scan thingy on friday. I have been told by lots of people that it is painful, and I am a COMPLETE wuss. Pain threshold is very low. Do you think they would give me a local anasthetic? Anybody know anything about Hystero - salpingograms?
Lou I'm OK thanks, a lot calmer than I was on Saturday! No more spotting so just hoping beanie was getting comfy. Will hopefully get an early scan booked with GP when I see her on Weds, will feel a lot more at ease when I have seen something! Sorry don't know anything about the scan your having but I googled it, bit of a mix bag but one lady said it was just like a little cramping and only lasted 10 mins. I will be thinking of you Friday hun, good luck x
It feels very buzzy in here, so busy! High energy TTC canlt be bad! Great to see so many new nameson the list, here's to everyone have a short stay and graduating quickly!
Sparkly i haven't used OPK (not sure of this?) but do temp daily, as yet unsure of ovulation although did have cramps midcycle, so maybe that wwas it!
Glad you are feeling calmer now Mollie
Here's to a BFP in July or August Lou and everyone else at the start of a new cycle!
Bonifacio I think I once read that you can dance everyday around OV as long as your DP has no known sperm problems. I only normally get a + ovulation test (OPK) for one day during my cycle and then I OV 24-48 hours later. I think it only takes a day to release an egg but I'm not sure of this. Does anyone else know? Blackrock OPKs are ovulation tests. They don't cost very much at all from ebay or babymad. Is this your first month temping? Are you using a thermometer for TTC? If you want me to have a look at your chart then just ask. I know too much about charting now. I find it really useful to use OPKs alongside charting because then you get a more accurate ovulation day. Lou Lots of luck for scan on Friday. I know lots of people who have had them and it's meant to feel like period pain but a bit stronger. I'm sure everything will be fine. It's meant to be easier to get a BFP after the scan because it gives you a good clear out so lots of luck to you. BS My DP is doing the same thing this week. It's his first visit to the GP re: TTC. I'm sure he will chicken out!! Well done for staying on top of the list BTW. Zen Sorry she got you. Let's hope 3 is your lucky number!!
SparklyPiliPala I'm a bit confused with my OV to be honest.
Can you still have OV pains AFTER Ovulation? I have been using the OV tests every day for the last week and the line has never been as dark as the test line, but has definitely been darker than normal on one of the days. So I assumed that I was OVing on that day. That was two or three days ago but then today and yesterday I've been having almot AF type cramps sometimes just on one side and low back pain. But when I did the OV test today, there was no line there at all. It's about 2 weeks and 2 days until my next AF is due (I'm normally on a 35 day cycle), so I'm not sure what's happening.
Another thing that's a big odd, between 8am and 11am today, I went to the loo about 7 times after only drinking 2 cups of tea!!
I'm sure I may be just getting symptoms but I've never noticed these pains before, this far in advance of my AF.
Dawn I never notice ovulation pains. If you got a darker result line 2 days a go then that would indicate you were going to ovulate within 48 hours..so the pain today could be ovulation pain. I'd keep up the BDing just to be on the safe side but I reckon you've ovulated and are now on the 2WW. The symptom spotting during this time is hard to resist . HTH.
Dawn If you were ovulating today then last night's swimmers should do just fine...but what the heck? You might as well go for it again tonight . I'd keep up the OPKs for a few days just to be sure that you have ovulated. It will get easier over the coming months (if you don't have a BFP before then) because you'll know when you ovulate.
God - I am crap at this charting. Right just realised that I am actually on day 13 today not day 11. Seems I can't actually count consectutive numbers...ran out of fingers, what can I say!?
So I'm: Cycle 1, Day 13, TTC#1
Oh, and am just realising that this TTC is already turning me into a sex-crazed lunatic! Last night my workaholic DH was too tired to BD. So, being the thoughtful adult that I am...I sulked. He does not know this, I was subtle. Poor man may be knackered after a long day...but I can see I'm going to have to be more seductive. Has anyone else had this or do I have the only non-sex obsessed husband in Britain?!
