Hi just looking for opinions. Basically I'm not actively trying, but not preventing pregnancy either.

Usually I had a 28 day cycle. The first day of my last period was 30th Dec so January's is well overdue. But have had very very light spotting the past 2 days. BFNs yesterday and today.

Went to my GP today and she wasn't helpful...basically told me just to wait for AF to appear.

I cant think why my period hasn't made an appearance yet...i couldn't be pregnant and getting BFNs at this stage, could I?

Maybe you could be pregnant hun Smile I would wait another week or so to test again.
Not sure how many days late this makes you? (I might not have read your question properly though Confused)
Light spotting can indicate implantation bleeding. But give it a few more days to test again. Smile

Unfortunately there's very little you can do, other than wait. It could be your hormones playing tricks, uour body reacting to stress or a hundred other reasons. You may be pregnant and not be producing enough hcg to register on a test. Hcg is only produced after implantation. Give it a few days to a week and test again if af hasn't appeared. Your cycle can inexplicably lengthen for no discernable reason. Mine can be anything from 35-42 days. Fingers crossed you get the result you want in a few days.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Used FRER a couple days ago, BFN. Tried a Lloyds early test today, BFN. Not sure what's going on but the spotting went on for a few days and I cant imagine implantation bleeding going on that long. Must just be one of those things!

Hiya, just another update. After my BFP Sunday and a faint one on Monday, I have only had negative tests. Had blood tests yesterday and the GP says I am not expecting.

Still no bleeding yet Sad

Oh bless you... Do they think you might have had a very early loss? I'm so sad for you Sad

Thanks cosmomouse...the GP said I must have had a false positive test(s) and just a late period and that was that. My period has never been 2 weeks late in my life...2 days maybe but not 2 weeks!

It's all a bit strange but I just wish AF would come to put a final full stop to this horrible confusing week...at least tonight I can have a WineSmile

Has the GP ordered bloods for you yet?

False positives are rare... Your gp doesn't sound very helpful! Definately enjoy your wine tonight Wine

false positives are extremely rare as the pregnancy hormone must have been in your system!

Are you definitely on your period chick?

Sorry just read about the blood tests! Never heard of a false positive but in sorry if that's what you experienced.

At least now if you're not actively trying but not preventing you sort of might know more about what you want going on how you felt when you did get a BFP!

I wish you the best of luck conceiving in the future! X

Becci AF hasn't arrived yet ..i expected some bleeding after bfp, bfp, bfn,bfn - since Monday really, but nothing. All I have is pain in my lower back. I also developed thrush for the first time in my last 2 weeks ago (diagnosed by swab). I'd be 6 weeks along now if pregnant.

I'm quite confused and tbh wish I hadn't gone to the GP at all Confused

If you still haven't had a period it's definitely still possible you're pregnant! Some women don't get a positive test for months so I've heard!

I find my GP isn't very helpful either but if you keep getting BFN's and no period you need answers!

Yeah I kind of thought that too, what makes it a bit more complicated is that due to a previous cyst I only have one ovary and one tube. I thought they'd have offered me a scan anyway to see what's going on, but I get the feeling they think I'm a bit of a fantasist!

It's funny, I was just saying earlier to my sister, no test will 100% convince me until my period comes, although I know a healthy pregnancy is looking pretty unlikely at this stage.

Thanks for your advice it's much appreciated...I've never been pregnant before and feel a little lost X

Thanks for your well wishes.

My local EPU runs a morning clinic, should I contact them or would it be a waste of their time as I don't seem to be pregnant?

I'm not sure whether to keep persisting with this or just write it off as a fluke?

Definitely keep contacting them!

Something is definitely going on and exactly as you say, until your period arrives you have no reason to trust negative tests. Some women don't get positives for months and months depending on their HCG!

It's a huge problem trying to be taken seriously by the NHS at times I find but you know something is going on, be it pregnancy or not and if is absolutely your right to explore every avenue and persist until you get answers! x

I thought much the same as the poster who queried ectopic pregnancy, keep on at your GP for an epau referral or see if you can self refer.
I'm not medically qualified but I had an ectopic five years ago.

Thanks so much for your thoughts. It's such a relief to discuss this with people who understand how lost you feel when your GP won't help you.

I'm not sure about ectopic - I had a google of the symptoms but I don't seem to have any of them, apart from the brownish discharge a couple of weeks ago, and a small niggling pain just above my hip bone which comes and goes. Do you necessarily get most symptoms with an ectopic or how do most people find out?

I do feel quite full in my tummy, similar to how you feel when you're constipated except that I've had a mild dose of the runs the last couple of days.

havea it varies so much from person to person.
I'd be contacting the EPU and getting seen by them just to be on the safe side if your GP isn't listening. I'm no medical expert though, just I think there is no point in you worrying.

I have thought about it, I just don't want them to think I'm silly if I go and turn out not to be pregnant (which I'm almost definitely not!)
