If you grew up in the 80's what books did you enjoy?

I am on the hunt for books I read as a child to give to dd1.

I read lots but can only remember Enid Blyton books.

What did you read that may trigger my memories?

How old? I have just ordered the first of the Ramona series by Beverley Cleary for dd1 who is 8. I loved them.

She has also read the Fudge series by Judy Blume. When she's a bit older, I'll see if she wants to read the rest like Are You There God, It's Me Margaret.

For younger children, I loved the Garden Gang books published by Ladybird. Not sure if you can still get them, my Mum kept mine for my kids.

I loved the Worst Witch by Jill Murphy too, as does dd1.

Will be watching this thread for more ideas.

I collected all the Babysitter Club books, but I think even at 10/11 I knew they were trash; I just liked how they looked on the shelf!
When I was a bit older - 12 ish - I got into Judy Blume and there was another similar author who wrote about a girl who went to help at summer camp. I'm sure the girl's name was Marci but I don't remember the author.

Gosh, I don't seem to able to remember a thing I read now! And I read a lot.

I loved all the Enid Blyton books, the silver brumby series were great and I adored Anne of Green Gables.

My daughter loved the famous five, the worst witch and anything by Ronald Dahl. DP swears by Swallows and Amazon's and can't wait to read it to DS.

I loved those books that had multiple different endings, depending on the choices you made during the book.
I think in the late '80s, I read Robin Jarvis, Deptford Mice series, who appears to still be writing. His books are fab.

Hated the Little Women series (but plodded through them, because my friends liked them) and hated Secret Seven.

Wow, PookBob I can't believe someone else has read the bullerby children too! I loved them. I read lots of the above mentioned and also Stig of the Dump and the Cruise of the Happy Go Gay about an aunt who goes on a voyage with her nieces. Really good story.
