Hello, I've just started blogging and I'm finding it incredibly difficult so I've come back to mumsnet for some support.

I've been on mumsnet for nearly 4 years, prolifically for the first 2 ( on a very long running thread which helped me enormously through a very bad patch) and occasionally in the last few months. I've met a few mumsnetters at meetups etc and will always defend it to the hilt if & when necessary.

Anyway, in the last few months with the help of a friend, I've got to grips with face book and twitter for my work and now with lots more help I've started a WordPress blog. I'm a technophobe, however I want to be able to conquer & master blogging so desperately that I feel there is hope. I've had 2/3 'lessons' from someone I know and while I'm with her it all sort of makes sense & then today I try and add some pics & text to a published post and I loose all the text somewhere & the pics go in to the 'library' and I've just spent 2 hours trying to find the lost text & trying to add the library pics to my post & failed at both and lost the post at the same time. I need about 3 weeks of free one to one tuition for eight hours a day from a very patient person. Such a person does not exist so I'm turning to mumsnet in my hour (month) of need.

I've just been on the tutorial/help bit of WordPress but I just don't get it. Does any one have any easy tips for me please ?

Hello DillyTante, that's so kind of you, thank you. You've brought a little ray of hope to my blogging life.I've just remembered that I'm on the MN bloggers network so I'm doing something right but it's only by accident and it's all hit and miss. What I'd like help with today please is (in very simple language, pretend you're talking to a 5 year old as I have a bloggers age of 5) how to transfer pics from my library to a post which I've already started & published. Also, I'd like to put the pics in pairs (rows of 2) going down .Also as I lost the text. Often I can't get the 'publish' button to work as the cursor turns into a funny little cross so I keep pressing 'preview' even though I don't need to preview the post.

Oooh don't know how to do them in pairs! I suspect that takes another piece of software. Firstly are you using Wordpress as an app (ie on your phone or iPad?) or on the main web version?

Right, you are in Add new post, just underneath the title is Upload/insert with 3 icons. The one you want is the little camera/musical note.

If you've already uploaded the pictures to WP they should be in 'Media Library'. If not you want 'From Computer'. In the middle of the large dashed box it says 'select files' click there and it will bring up a browser window to find your file. Select file, either double click or select 'open'. Should take you back to the screen you were on before. Scroll down, can you see your picture?

Yes, I've got the media library on my screen with my pics on it, I just don't know how to get them on to the 'add new post'.

Right scroll right to the bottom. The things you are passing are all bit you can used to faff around with the picture but at the bottom there should be a button 'insert into post'. It's not obvious, but that's what you need.

I don't see Update Media, I do see Update, which means it's already inserted into the post you are working on.

Are you perhaps on the HTML screen and don't realize it?

Thanks Tee2072. I eventually worked it out. Also, I thought you had to press publish to er publish. I didn't realize that you only have to press 'update'. There's so much to learn but I'm getting there
