22mo dd shoplifted! Totally accidentally and entirely my fault. Wondering around the shop with buggy, no arms free for a basket so piling things on the hood etc, gave her a couple of things to keep her quiet. Further down the shop I noticed that she wasn't holding them any more so assumed that she had dropped them, and went back to get replacements. Paid, left, was walking up the street when - you guessed it - dd digs under the foot muff and pulls out the missing items!

Quick call the cops ! Ds almost did something similar on Saturday. Had a small M&S toy but he was holding it under the counter. Paid for my stuff and was just about to go from the till when I spotted it !

At least it was accidental! I remember seeing an item on TV about a woman who trained her child in a buggy to shoplift! She would pass him CDs etc, and he would slip them inside! Can't remember how they got round the security tag/ alarm thing though- maybe it was before they were routine.

Nothing exciting, just some huge packets of dried fruit - I deliberately gave her things I thought were too big to disappear!

My 16 month old keeps trying to shoplift. Come to think of it, her sister was the same. Er...I blame their DAD

i remember going into woolies one day and putting bin bags on hood of buggy, carried on going round and forgot id picked up bin bags and just walked out! I can tell you, i avoided woolies like the plague for ages thinking id be arrested!!!!!!!!!!!

Must add my ds was only a few weeks old at the time so i blame shrinkage of the brain and mild pnd!!!!!

we ended up with a pair of new born girls socks when ds1 decided to 'shoplift' at 18 months. Didn't have him very well trained

Has anyone (or their infant! ) ever done this and then taken the things back? I almost did, but then got too embarassed and suddenly decided that I didn't have the time to go back because...

My youngest took 2 magnets from DisneyWorld when she was about 18 months old. I didn't realise till we were a long way from the store.

If it was a)something valuable, or b)we had just left the store, then I would have returned them.

i ended up with a packet of what looked like soap powder, but in actual fact was some complete useless rubbish for adding to your machine to make your whites as white as white can be. i only noticed it when i ran over it with the pram. i didn't take it back becuase i didnt want to traipse all the way back with twins and shopping to give them it back - at the time was on the bones of mi arse financially ad couldnt help wondering why ss hadn't managed to nick something more sodding useful ;)

13 month old dd did this last month.

We were in a bookshop & I didn't realise that she had 'shoplifted' a book of a low shelf.Luckily I spotted it just before we got to the door & handed it back to a member of staff.He thought it was hilarious-she'd pinched a Mills & Boon book!!!!!!!!!! Oh the shame

I did this accidentally too, you know you pile stuff ontop of the buggy hood, and leave something on there when you go to pay. And no I have never returned it!

We stole a spoon from a restaurant this morning. Little lightfingers (almost 8 months) slipped it right into my bag.

My friend's ds stole a rather nice hardback book from Waterstones (he was in the front of a one in front of the other double buggy). She said she would have taken it back but by the time she saw it he'd chewed half the cover off....

dd2 tried to steal cats and dogs dvd once. she ran out yelling 'mine mine' ever so discreet.

dd2 is very honest. she will pass things she is holding to be paid.

someone i know once shoplifted a pack of nappies. she was desperate, totally skint, and just did it. she told me about it a few years afterwards. i didnt know her at the time, but if i did i would've given her the money to pay for nappies.

My DS was in his buggy one day, he must have been about 22 months, we were walking round superdrug, when I stopped and looked at the makeup, brought a lippy and eyeshadow, got home took him out and discovered a bright pink nailvarnish ( And I meant it was BRIGHT pink) was very embarassed and avoid the shop for ages.

I also caught dd putting a small plastic doll into my friends handbag at mums & tots last week.

I've done this - put tights in hood in M&S. It was raining when we got outside so I opened to hood straight away. I was so embarrassed I went back in. The ladies at the till were killing themselves laughing when I told them. Aparently it happens all the time and they forgive us cos we've given birth and we're a little bit loopy.

I once smuggled a large bag of bog roll through the check out in tescos - forgot to take them off that hook on the trolley. The cahier laughed and said that they compensate for that by the people who forget to take bogroll off their trolleys and into their car!

Did this recently. Dd (3) was on my shoulders and I passed her a handwash dispenser to hold, while I picked up some other stuff. Forgot all about it until we were quite a bit away from the shop and dh noticed.
You would have thought the checkout assistant would have seen it - she was holding it in full view!
And no we didn't take it back ...well it was poundstretcher

She's been at it again! At the checkout at Tesco's yesterday I noticed that one of my loaves of bread was open, so asked the cashier to get it replaced. No problems...but when I unloaded the trolley into my car boot, I found the half-eaten breadcrusts under the shopping bags! I swear I don't know how she does it! OK, last time she was in a buggy facing away from me, but this time she was in the trolley facing me all the time!
